No, just put a couple of sheets of loo paper in it, and that does the job. Very good item, very sturdy and hard wearing, and it slips very easily under an invalid.

Q: does it come apart for cleaning?

No, it is such a simple, streamlined, excellent piece of kit it doesn't need to come apart. Put a couple of sheets of loo paper in it for solids, after use put a bit of water in the pan, then carefully empty the contents (including the toilet paper you have put in the bottom of it) into the toilet. Swill the pan around a couple of times with clean water, and that is it. All clean again ready for next use.
