Do not buy this.
Very poor quality. This is the only item I have purchased from Amazon where I have felt so negative about the purchase. Inter-occular adjustment is very limited. My eyes are not particularly close together but I couldn't get the eyepieces close enough to form a good single image. Prepared slides are OK to view with the bottom light through one eyepiece lens. Upper light is hopeless when trying to view thicker specimens. Everything is too cramped around the stage to allow ease of focussing and allow enough light to the specimen. Very short focussing range which I understand at the higher magnifications but even with the lowest magnification lens it is a very dark image and detail is impossible to make out. Also quite unstable. One star is generous.Although I bought it some time ago this is the first opportunity I have had to properly use it so no refund will happen now.Buy cheap and you get cheap. Find the money to buy a better quality microscope. I will next time.

A New World To Discover
LAKWAR 40X-1000X Binocular Microscope for Adults with Microscope Slides Phone Holder & Specimen Preparation Kits. This microscope kit is a great way to get started on the fascinating journey in to the hidden world of micro exploration. It comes in it's own foam padded zip up case with cutouts for storing and protecting the microscope and all the accessories. The microscope itself is constructed from metal, although the upper section where the eyepieces are is plastic. This section rotates smoothly so viewing can be done from different angles. Overall the whole thing feels quite well built though. It has a built in light to help with viewing objects, which is powered by the included proprietary plug and lead.Included amongst all the slides and tools are different lenses which allow magnifications from 40x right up to 1000x with various magnifications in between.Viewing things at the upper magnification levels is pretty amazing and you'll see some stunning detail you never realised was there. I'll not give anything away as personal discovery is the key to using a microscope. There's also a phone adapter included so you can record your new discoveries but at the time of review I've not yet tested this out, although I will be doing so.There's a large manual that only touches on the very basics of how to use this, which is covered on just 2 pages. The rest is various language instructions. I think the manual should have been a lot more comprehensive so you're really on your own here. You can currently buy this for a fraction over £78 using the various discounts, which for what you get here seems very good value for money. It's not a professional microscope by any means but it's well packaged and offers great magnifications levels and includes everything to get you started.

Great item that'll kept the kids interested
This is a nice little set-up especially if you have a Secondary school child who is interested in science. It comes in a nice little carry case, with a set of slides and a camera phone holder (which is very difficult to set up.There are a good few slides to view which my children enjoyed looking at and they then went out hunting in the garden for flowers, grass etc to view under the scope.Really nice item - can be used with the supplied electric transformer or AA batteries.

Horrible!
Internal mirror has some blochess over it and the visual optics are not balanced so you can only see double instead of one object, I have used a £5 kids plastic microscope that gives a better image. All in all it's rubish, I filled well chatted!

Made from mostly cheap materials, sticky patches around the handle and eye piece area.
LAKWAR 40X-1000X Binocular MicroscopeConsidering its price, this microscope is like a toy for young adults, not the ones they use in primary school science labs. The base should be non-slip -something that the maker can improve. The looks and feels of some parts, like the knob and disc, are made from low-quality plastic. And to top it up, the body is sticky as if it is in a used condition. Not recommendable.
