Nartel® LCD Digital Battery Tester Volt Checker Multi Size for AA AAA C D 9V 1.5V Button Cell Batteries (Requires No Battery to Operate)

I like this tester because it displays a terminal voltage measurement rather than just good/poor/replace.It is also easier to use than a multimeter with leads which was my previous method for testing batteries.It works well with AA and AAA rechargeable batteries because I know that the fully charged terminal voltage will be 1.2V-1.3V rather than the 1.5V most battery testers will be expecting.The tester also has a handy table moulded into the reverse showing expected terminal voltages.BEWARE 9V rechargeables: I had an issue using this device with recharagble HiMH 9V PP3 batteries.When checking the terminal voltage after charging a 9V battery (labelled as 8.4V) the display showed 18.88V which I thought was very strange. I tried with another charged 9V PP3 battery and it showed 15V then the display went off and the tester gave off a melted electronics smell. It now doesn't function at all, even with AA/AAA batteries. I guess the tester was not able to cope with voltage abover 9V. I'm not sure if it is normal for NiMH PP3 batteries to have such a high terminal voltage after charging or whether there was just some fault with my batteries or even with the tester itself.

Got this as a quick way to test large numbers of batteries for wireless microphones. I tested it against my good quality multimeter and the voltage readings are remarkably accurate - better than 0.02V error. Super-easy to use, very convenient, and insanely good value. HOWEVER... 10 months later, the LCD display began to fail. As usual, cause is insufficient pressure on the silicone zebra-strip connector that links the glass LCD to the circuit board. I fixed it easily by filing a tiny bit of height off the PCB mounting posts (indicated in picture of the inside of the case) but I don't know how long that Band-Aid will last.Good buy, but be prepared to bin it and get another before very long.

Works well and really helps identify if the battery needs replacing or not. Used it when a remote stopped working and found only one battery had gone flat, replaced that one and remote works again and have had no issues since. Work the money.

The lcd digital display does not function correctly and even if it did product has little design funcrion difficult fiddling around to get a reading as contacts do not fit well especiallly using AAA battery, all batteries want to jump and fall out evertwhere, think my 3 year old child could design better product to sumarise more suitable as a christmas cracker filler...ie Useless.

This is probably a great bit of kit if I knew what to do with it, I wanted something that would tell me if my batteries had any life in them, you know, the ones that roll around the drawers......It probably does do that, but I am useless with it. It is my own fault for not reading about it properly before buying it.

I found this really easy to use and was very pleased with it for a year. Part of the display then started to fail so that only a partial readout was visible. I found a hint online that pressing the plastic case below the display (not on the display itself) would cure this and it does work. It's now less easy to use though, because of this extra step. Quite cheap so could replace every year but would prefer something to last a bit better

I like the ease of use for this digital battery tester, you just place the battery on the corresponding positive and negative detectors and shows the charge level left in the battery. I've only tested alkaline and not lithium or other rechargeable batteries yet, but I expect it to work fine with those as well.
