Boils like a champ, makes fire starting a breeze.
First thing first, this is only first impression and not a full review. We used this kettle only once in the field, so there is no way I can review its longevity or ease of use in a less friendly weather/environment. However for the first use it performed incredibly well, and if the seams hold up, I don't see any reason why it would disappoint in the future.Ok, first and the only negative thing about this thing is that its relatively bulky compared to small camping stoves, however...You are carrying a great water container, that can be used to get and carry water to the camp. You are carrying a stove to cook on and a pot to cook in. Turns into a small grill once you boiled the water and got some coals in the base.Gets the fire going really fast. I haven't tried it on damp materials yet, but we had some greener firewood last time camping, which sometimes is a pain to get going, but this thing roared and got those sticks nice and hot in seconds. I see no problem using this to actually get a fire going inside with marginal (wet) wood, and then once its nice and aflame, transfer it to the main camp fire to start that.Boils water in record time! This is the medium size, which turned out to be a perfect size for two people. It boiled water by the time the fire dried out the sticks and finally combusted the smoke and roared in the chimney. Blowing into the hole in the base really angers the fire and the sound is incredible! We haven't tried the cook set yet, just boiled water for some tea, so can not comment on that. Pot seems to be ok, but I doubt the lid will be very useful as a skillet.Really smart design. I'm sure it will prove itself to be useful time after time and compensate for its bulkiness.

Excellent Kettle!
This thing is just amazing. It does what its advertised to do: boil water quickly with minimal fuel. I stumbled upon this product watching some YouToob videos. I really could not justify the expense of this purchase, but then someone gave me an Amazon gift card, so my dream came true. The down-side to this product is that it's bulky and somewhat heavy. I tested this on a recent overnight backpack trip with my son, and find that the inconvenience was still worth it. Water is heavier to pack into remote places, and I was able to boil water germ-free from a water source for our dinner/breakfast. The other down-side was that it takes some getting used to. OK, it took me 6-10 minutes to boil water! Make sure you keep feeding it small dry twigs, and it works fine.I haven't used the cook pot/plate yet, but they are good quality. I have nicer cook gear, so this is a good back-up for mixing stuff, or warming other items to add to your dinner. There is just one thing to add and this kettle would be more perfect, and that is some type of screen to go over the spout. When cooking, ash and debris goes up, and has a tendency to land in the spout area. I just splash out the first few tablespoons of water, and then add the clean boiling water to my cup.Even for light-weight backpacking I will include this in my kit!

A must have for any dystopian future...or maybe just for traveling in the great outdoors.
If the zombies are coming and you have to decide what to take with you as you run for the hills...then put this on the top of the list, right next to weaponry. The Kelly Kettle might be the best purchase I've made in the last 10 years and certainly the best one I've made through Amazon. We received the medium size kit made from stainless. The construction is quality. No seam leaks and loose parts. I know the company had some issues with some pop rivets failing but the company has since switched to welding and eliminated the problem. It's easy to set up and burns fuel using pretty much what you can find around you; twigs, pinecones, cow pies, whatever flammable bits and bobs you can collect. I won't go into the instructions here, there are plenty of videos online that can do a better job, but I will stress the easy of use. Even my kids can get it working (with close adult supervision). This IS the item to have in your emergency box. Wait, you don't have an emergency box? Well get one! Seriously, this thing can boil water in about 5-10 minutes just using the detritus under your hiking boots. We use it for camping because the hubbie must have his coffee in the morning and waiting is not an option. Clean up is easy. Our kit came with a storage bag, a small grill and pan for cooking on the fire. You can even heat water while simultaneously roasting hot dogs over the flame. If I could give it more stars, I would!

Great camp stove
Good product, chain that holds to cap is substandard. Other than that great camping product for day hikes, boondocking or car camping. Items nest together for travel and storage, heats water quickly and you can cook food on the top of the stove at the same time.

Love it.
This kettle is easy, fast, efficient, and fun. This is not a backpacking cookset so if you are looking for something light weight and small, then look elsewhere. If you are looking for a quick and easy way to boil water or cook food on a camping trip or picnic then this is a great product. We took it camping and we chose this over our indoor propane stove (we have a pop-up camper with a small kitchen) for making coffee each morning because it was so much faster than boiling water in a pot over the stove. Bonus feature - when you're done using the kettle you can dump the hot coals and ashes in your fire ring as a nice fire starter for your campfire too! We chose the Scout because the Base Camp is just so big and we are happy with this medium size. It was enough water to fill a standard french press or make a few cups of tea. We have not yet cooked with it but I imagine that because of how easy it is to stoke the fire while using the kettle that cooking would be just as easy and fast as boiling water. It's sturdy and compact and seems to be durable. I can't compare this brand to any others of this style but we are happy with this purchase and would buy again.
