Reolink5MP PoE CCTV Camera with Human/Vehicle Detection, IR Night Vision, IP67 Waterproof Time Lapse Audio Recording, RLC-510A

Installed in home office to monitor the room and patio door via POE from a Reolink NVR.Excellent image quality. I was initially concerned I might have made a mistake pointing the camera directly at the glass doors, but in the end I particularly impressed with dynamic range as the camera copes very well with light and dark regions. Night vision is also very good indeed.Intelligent motion detection is very reliable. Alerts filtered on people detection rather than just movement detection.I've used Reolink cameras for domestic and commercial applications for several years. Hardware has proved to be very reliable and the PC and phone App software solid with a good user friendly interface. There is enormous flexibility to control the operation of the camera.

The quality of the camera itself is good. The resolution of the pictures and video make them useful (i.e. able to read number plates, identify faces etc).Installation is easy. I have a PoE switch with structured cabling around the house but any Poe switch with an rj45 cable will do.The angles are good so you almost don't need more than 1 to get cross over coverage.I installed mine on the soffit so didn't need to worry too much about waterproofing.I have SD cards in them as well as a server at home running the Reolink application. So I have a backup of footage being captured.The software is relatively easy to use, though there is a little bit of a translation issue at times but the Reolink support is 100% recommended, respond quickly and very helpful. I'm still tweaking the sensitivity settings so can't report back yet on any false positives. So far seems fairly consistent.I wasn't expecting the quality of the product to be this good for the price. Brand snobbery exists and whilst there are systems that are better you'll be paying significantly more for not a huge amount of gain. In retrospect I maybe should have gone for the 4k ones but honestly these are perfect.

Normaly there are no problems with Reolink products unless they get full of water, this appeared 100% dry but stopped working after 9 months, but within a week of reporting the problem they had sent me a new replacement.As always their customer service is very helpful

Arrived promptly. Is now up and running. Fairly straightforward to install. Happy with the results. Camera very sensitive and can be adjusted to suit purposes.

Great sound great picture clear and super easy to use. Wish cables were a little thinner as have to drill a large hole to get them through the window frame. Brilliant for the price. I have 3 different reolinks and no issues with any so far

The mounting for this camera is awful, it is incredibly difficult to tighten it and make it stay put. You can't unplug the cable so I guess they expect you to drill a huge hole for the cable?It seems to work ok but the mounting and general build quality were poor so decided to remove and return unfortunately because the mount is so awful and you end up having things dangling on cables whilst trying to unscrew it I managed to drop the camera. It's in the bin and I'll do what I should have done in the first place and buy a better quality known make with a better mounting system.

This camera has slightly clearer imaging in the day, and most definitely an improved night-vision over my previous '4' series POE camera.If you're using an older Reolink NVR like me (2019 purchase) then you will need to download the driver/software update for the '5' series POE camera. To do this you have to use a Windows computer and make sure you've formatted your USB drive as NTFS (right-mouse-click on your usb and choose to format as NTFS). If you use Apple computers like me, you'll find the file can't be read by the NVR when you plug your USB into it.The file is available on the Reolink download-centre and it's all very straight-forward to do, as Reolink include instructions/video with the download-link on their website.The camera is otherwise a like-for-like replacement (size, mounting holes, connections etc.).

My last Ethernet camera purchase from Reolink, an RLC-410-5MP failed but just outside 12 months. However I took a leap of faith and bought two more of their RLC-510A which are shown as an upgrade. They work as expected but, in my opinion there is one small design defect that spoils the overall satisfaction: There is no detent in the RJ45 (Ethernet) socket for the plug's retaining clip to engage with which means that the plug easily falls out unless you use some inginuity (such as insulation tape) to hold it in! They do supply a waterproofing kit for the plug which includes a small plastic foam coller to grip the cable and, presumably force the plug to stay inserted but it has very poor grip on the cable and is far from being a good, engineering solution. Insulation tape is still required. They have to appreciate that every time the plug disengages someone will probably have to go up a ladder to fix it.
