This is a brilliant elucidation of an ancient spiritual classic - don't miss this amazingn book !
I just finished reading the incredible translation/elucidation of “The Hermetica 101” by Matthew S. Barnes. I am an older dude and have literally read thousands of books. Of the thousands I have read only a handful have touched my soul directly. The Bhagavad Gita, some of Rumi’s poetry, and several NDE (Near-Death Experience) books including the authors Dr. Mary Neal and Dr. Eben Alexander. When I opened “The Hermetica 101” and read the Introduction I knew instantly I had found a kindred spirit in the author. The learnings we gain in life from all of its ups and downs “ripens” our consciousness and prepares our soul to recognize, receive and provide a fecund soil for rebirth (by rebirth I mean to breakthrough from the shackles that bind our spirit to its limited view of its true nature). The author delivers a vehicle for spiritual transformation by taking an ancient and arcane document and bringing it to our modern world.Several times during my reading of the book certain phrases would reach deep into my spirit giving me the sense of discovering a “key” that unlocked chains that were bound tightly around my heart and my mind and down to the very essence of my soul/being.I can only thank the author for this brilliant demystification of one of the greatest spiritual writings of all time. Clearly the author speaks from a deep soul wisdom born from the “slings and arrows” of our human experience and brings that light to the ancient words.Don’t miss the chance to read this beautiful rendering of an ancient classic.

My favorite current interpretations of something much older
I bought this book when on a mission to better understand hermeticism, and.....that which is greater than any one of us, that universal light and consciousness, or as this book says, IT. This book is the writers modern interpretation of these things that have been stated for a long long time, across many different places. It is is easy to understand, beautifully written in a sort of poetic form, and just makes sense of IT. I really love it so much, this book is part of my normal wake up routine, and it helps raise my vibrational levels first thing in the morning. I would recommend it to anyone who has managed to stumble across it here for whatever reason, it's amazing and I plan on buying all of this writers other stuff. Thanks Mathew Barnes, this stuff has helped me in so many ways I cant explain.

hermetic poetry
I received this as an ARC and am giving it my honest review.I have been a student of the occult for as long as I can remember. I recall being fascinated with saints and martyrs when I entered catechism at a young age. I moved on to witchcraft, shamanism and tarot and eventually landed in Hermetica. I will say that this was definitely the most unique approach to explaining Hermetica that I have come across. Yes, I have been exposed to poetic meditations before, but nothing like this. Barnes does have a very good grasp of the principles. He uses repetition, familiar language and short, succint lines/imagery to convey the concepts and he does it quite well. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I know what he is talking about but I'm not sure if someone who doesn't have some prior knowledge of Hermetic concepts will get much out of this. But, as it is often said, we understand it when we are ready to. I would never deter anyone from reading this, though. I think everyone will receive some level of understanding from it.

very good synopsis for modern times
I enjoyed the way the author condensed and clarified the information into an easy to understand format. I am no expert but have read a few versions and felt this captured the spirit well.
