A very interesting and stimulating read. Not as intellectual (or depressing) as Guy Debord but certainly inspired by the Situationalist tradition. Be warned that it at points it does wade a bit into Lolita-ish territory, though not eroticly so.

Life-Changeingly Excellent

Not only is it some of the most deliciously subversive writing, but it's a crucial read for anyone who wants a glimpse into the metamorphic culture of our electronic future. There's no perfect world – just worlds, endless, constantly unfolding – and our efforts to impose an order on the chaos often lead to cruelty and suffering. BUT! Imagine living as a playful prayer to change and transformation. Live this moment to its fullest, let the need to fix it slip away, and you're starting to approach the future-nomad nature of "poetic terrorists" like Bey.He says it better than I do. Folks: this slim volume changed my life. Get on it.

Brought a tear to my eye

This small book is so big in ideas. This man truly understands the beauty and love of freedom itself.I'm not saying this as an "Anarchist" or -ist or -tarian or -whatever. I like this book for the thoughts in its essays. And yes, indeed, I do want somehow to find/create even for a brief time a truly T.A.Z... Perhaps on an artificial island in the pacific? Or perhaps in a decade or so with our economy trashing we can have "Free Cities" briefly?

I regret buying this book

I didn't get that far into it when I started picking up red flags. Was unfamiliar with the author previously, and approached the book ignorantly. A very minimal amount of reading up on him confirmed that his approach to anarchy is 1) superficial non-sense and 2) used as a disguise for his paedophilia. I don't remember ever throwing a book out in my life before, but this one went in the trash.

Chaos Never Died

A classic -- glad to finally have a physical copy of it.

Paedophilia in print - do NOT buy!

Do NOT buy this book!I bought this book in good faith having read some post alluding to it online. Two sections in I was reading about 'Wild Children' thinking he must mean it allegorically and as a concept it was an interesting one to muse over. Then I skip ahead a bit.No. He means actual children and I realise Hakim Bey is a dirty Paedo! The only way I can figure all the great quotes about the book are a mixture of the world think moving on and certain things becoming really obviously unacceptable in a way that they just weren't in the past and the publisher just taking quotes out of context and printing them on the cover.I've never burned a book before, but this one's getting burnt ... actually feels weirdly anarchic.
