Synthetic--not cotton!
This material seemed too soft to be true, so I heated one corner of a teabag with a lighter and to my disappointment, it melted. This indicates that it is made with plastic fibers, not cotton. This is not something I'd want to make my tea with.

Perfect size for loose leaf tea
Perfect sized tea filter bags for loose leaf tea. The top does not completely cinch close, however that caused no problems.
