Would definitely recommend
I went for spoonk as more of the materials seemed eco friendly than some of the other brands. It came really quickly. Much quicker than the Amazon estimate.I've had it two days and am already a big fan. It feels amazing on my upper back and neck. So much so that when I was at work today I was thinking about it. Literally looking forward to getting home so I could get it out again. With this set I like the way you can roll the travel mat up to make a neck support. I also love the little ball, my kids really enjoyed playing with it. Good thing to have for fidgity restless children. It does feel intense when you first lay on it but that goes fairly quickly. Not sure if it's reducing back pain overall, as I've not had it long enough to say, but it's definitely increasing relaxation and reducing tension.

Glad I bought it.
I bought this with some scepticism, having read that it helps people with osteo arthritis and fybromyalgia, both of which conditions I have.I tend to use it on top of the bed in the evening and it does seem to help with getting to sleep. Putting the smaller rolled mat under my knee seems to help ease the pain from my arthritic knee.It is recommended to wear thin clothing and it can be a bit prickly sitting up to get off the mat (I'm not the nimblest). I also find the small mat which I roll and place under my neck can be rather uncomfortable/painful but am persevering.Lying on the large mat is comfortable and relaxing and I'm glad I bought it.

Used for my back but surprised it works as a relaxation aid
I bought a knock-off (in grey in my posted picture) that was delivered quickly and looked and felt just like a Spoonk mat but half the price. I returned it because the 'stimulation points' (the pokey bits) were smaller than the Spoonk Mat I borrowed (see the light green mat in my picture). I wondered whether it would have the same effect. I'm sure it would have an effect but not sure it would be as pronounced. So you can buy them cheaper -- and maybe it will work -- but I didn't want to take a chance. I love my Spoonk mat and am shocked that I always fall asleep on it. I wasn't expecting it to be a relaxation aid but it is. The Spoonk ball that comes with it is great for my stand up desk and working my plantar fasciitis. I also wasn't expecting that to work as well either! In short, this is a great product. I wish I knew how it worked but still would strongly recommend it to anyone with acute back pain but also for relaxation and as a sleep aid.

Muscle tension? Give this a try
Arrived quickly. Good quality and decent size. The travel size can be used to support your head by rolling it up, otherwise it makes a good travel mat.Now for the details. Yes, it can be uncomfortable or even slightly painful when you first use it, but if you can endure it for a few minutes the discomfort begins to fade. It felt like a burning, slightly stinging feeling at first (I used it on bare skin to my back and neck the 1st time). Over time the burning and stinging faded (though didn't go away entirely) and I began to feel a very warming sensation and muscle relaxation. I managed 10 minutes. Afterwards my skin was red (to be expected), very warm and slightly inflamed. It felt like my circulation was had really been increased to the area. I definitely noticed some muscle relaxation (I get stiff and tense from workouts, work and stress). I also think it provides some mental relaxation as well. Each time I try the mat I am able to tolerate longer periods. I even tried it on my quads/hip flexors as they are chronically tight no matter how much I stretch them. I feel like it really helped ease some of the tension and tightness. It was quite uncomfortable- burning, stinging and itchy (similar to a skin allergic reaction) but I feel like the muscle relaxation was worth the discomfort. My quads were super red and inflamed afterwards, but it didn't last long. The muscle relaxation following that was worth it. It's important to note that the redness and inflammation is an increase in bloodflow and the body's reaction to the stimulus- totally normal and okay. I haven't felt the sense of deep relaxation or euphoria that some people have reported, though I am still working my way up in time, and I am pretty wound up person. I think it has the potential to aid with deep relaxation and better sleep.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these! Six Stars in my mind!
These are everything the reviews claim they are. Amazing. I feel all of the stress and back pain leave my body when I lay down at night on our living room floor and do 45 minutes on my Spoonk.I bought one (with travel pillow) for myself and also my boyfriend. We now have "Spoonk time" every night since Christmas. We are new to acupressure mats and not "pros". I was able to lay skin directly on the mat for the full 45 minutes the first try, while my boyfriend could not at all. However, he has worked up to being able to lay shirtless for up to a half hour after gradually increasing the time.If you plan to use it on your floor while watching a favorite show (that's how we like to do it), I recommend rolling the travel size into a neck roll and placing it on top of a throw pillow. Place your back and shoulders on the full sized mat and then reach up and pull the pillow and rolled up travel mat under your neck, letting your head's weight rest on the throw pillow. It's tricky at first and awkward, but now that's my routine to both prop my head up while still getting the neck pillow effect as well as the full body Spoonk and just relax and turn on Netflix. We look forward to this time SO much because it's enjoyable, relaxing, and heals pains and aches of the day in a snap. Even my 11 year old son decided to try it despite the scary look and... loved it!If you have daily pain, aches, tension, stress, or even head and neck strain from computers and cell phones, this is a guaranteed fix. Much better than a hot bath, massage, or stretching. It has even started to improve my serious and long term acid reflux and GERD from an Ulcer several years ago. I take less and less stomach meds now than in 5 years. My insomnia didn't get markedly better, but I also don't use it in bed/right before bed, as directed. I HAVE dozed off while on the mat. My Sciatica pain is improved each time I use this and prevents glare ups. It even clears my sinuses after a few minutes of it pressing into the back of my neck.If you are hesitant... dont be. This will instantly become a necessary part of your day and missing it would be like skipping brushing your teeth. You won't want to ever miss a Spoonk session again. I can't recommend this enough. No Cons really. If you use it a lot, you will have these bagged mats hanging on your coat rack or nearby to grab and use, which really organized people may not like, but every other brand I've seen is much less portable and don't have bags at all. So this is still the best choice.6 Stars if I could! Fantastic, amazing, best purchase!****October 2016 Update: I am still using this product nearly one year later EVERY day. When I miss a day, I really feel it in my back and shoulders. I dedicate a full hour each night close to bedtime where I lay on the mat with the travel mat rolled up as a pillow under my head and just relax on our floor and watch a favorite TV show. This has become a major part of managing my back and shoulder pain 1 year later and I'd recommend this even more than the first time around after a full year of daily use****
