Set of 2 Plated Steel Ice Picks with Wood Handle, 5mm Thick and 6" Long Blade

I wanted them to make trash picker uppers. I tapped it to a stick so my kids could pick up trash around the yard without having to bend over. I duct taped one of them to a stick and sent my 13 year old out to wreck havoc on the trash. I'm not sure what she hit or did with it, but she brought it back and it had a curve it in. She clams she was just stabbing random stuff, but I'm pretty sure there was some prying involved.So, minus one star for not holding up to my 13 year old's shenanigans with it, but it feels sturdy and looks nice and you get 2 of them for the price of most single picks listed so I don't really have any complaints.

These ice picks are very economical, and well worth the price. On the plus side, the handles are hardwood, and the shaft seems well seated. Meanwhile, I see these as something of ice pick kits rather than a finished product. The pins that hold on the handle cap can be pulled out easily with one's thumbnail, and that allows one to remove the cap and coat the top under the cap with epoxy, re-mount the cap, and reinsert the pins. This gets rid of any wobble in the cap. The sleeve where the handle and the shaft intersect can also come loose, so epoxy is good to use there as well. After these things, the shape of the pick tip is a simple cone in shape, so it can help to rotate it against a grindstone to give it a more gracefully rounded shape and somewhat more sharpness. The shaft seems to be lightly plated, but after grinding and filing, a final rub with moderately fine emery paper removes any trace of plating and leaves you with quite a decent pair of ice picks.

Works great the little round metal piece at the base of the handle and the spike fell off one of them but otherwise everything works fine

When i say large I mean large. They do work efficiently though.

I love these ice picks. I put ice in a lot of drinks in insulated tumblers. It always resulted in a big glob of ice and no way for me to get my straw in. I used to use a knife and then I got smart and ordered these ice picks. I couldn't be happier. It solved the problem since I can now break up the ice easily and then use my straw.

I was installing a vent between two rooms and needed something to make a hole straight through both pieces of dry wall so the openings on both sides would be aligned for installing the duct. The metal part is 6" long (I was wondering when the description said the "blade" was 6" long, but the total length was 6.5"). Didn't jive. Turns out the 6" metal length was right (pick is 9.5" long with handle). Blade is 3/16" diameter. Very strong. Good addition to the tool box.
