You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll

The Kids Are Back
Twisted Sister's second full length album You Can't Stop Rock N' Roll features a number of favorites that remain in their set to this day. This album warns the world of the upcoming mayhem they would be creating with the follow up album, the legendary Stay Hungry. Originally released by Atlantic Records in 1983, this is now remastered with 3 bonus tracks. (2011)1. The Kids Are Back2. Like A Knife In The Back3. Ride To Live, Live To Ride4. I Am (I'm Me)5. The Power And The Glory6. We're Gonna Make It7. I've Had Enough8. I'll Take You Alive9. You're Not Alone (Suzette's Song)10. You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll11. One Man Woman (BONUS TRACK)12. Four Barrel Heart Of Love (BONUS TRACK)13. Feel The Power (BONUS TRACK)The remastering by Scott Hull has just added upon the original Atlantic CD release's production. That Spitfire reissue from a few years back (mastered from vinyl) was a disgrace. The Armoury Records reissues' booklet was a simple reproduction ... with the associated loss of detail and clarity. Also of note the 'thanks list" was gone.

Like a charging bull, it's a juggernaut...
The follow-up to their debut was another serious hard rock record that seemed to contradict Twisted Sister's often comical and garish stage and publicity look. However inside the inner sleeve of `You Can't Stop Rock `N' Roll" features a very street gang/Hell Angel's and above all dangerous looking rock `n roll band. Their second album while hard hitting was slight step downward after the ultra aggressive `Under the Blade'. Though the Sisters still dwelt in relative obscurity in most of their homeland; their temporary home was where they started to develop an international following and where Atlantic Records signed them in time to record album #2. The title track which was originally intended for the first record but held back became Twisted Sister's first MTV video but it was "I Am, I'm Me" that was the first UK single off the LP. One of the things that hurt the album slightly is the similarity between original album side openers "The Kids Are Back" and "We're Gonna Make It" although the former is the anthemic tune that a quality metal band needs for audience identification. "The Power and the Glory" and "Like a Knife in the Back" qualify as exceptional album tracks and power ballad "You're Not Alone" is above average. `YCSRNR' may not have been the overwhelming success Twisted Sister or Atlantic was looking for when their deal was made but that success would soon come with LP#3 and another song once slated for earlier release - "We're Not Gonna Take It". `Stay Hungry' would contain many of the same elements as its predecessor but for whatever reason the stars aligned in 1984. Good if not great early `80's British influenced American metal is not something haters expect from Twisted Sister (they expect the goofy Dee Snider poses and Bugs Bunnyesque videos) but true believers will be pleasantly surprised,

Classic Album
If you are like me. I'm not really satisfied with the newer bands material coming out right now. So, I am going back and purchasing older bands material that I KNOW is good on CD. For example the first 3 Twisted Sisters. I love them! After Stay Hungry they lost me but they first 3 albums are impeccable! Now, this is the older version of the CD not the remastered one. I've heard all kinds of mixed feeling on what sound good and bad. My stereo has a 7 band EQ and it makes damn near everything sound better then it would if I didn't have it at all. So, I'm happy with this CD. The mix could've been a little louder but it is fine considering when it was recorded. If you are looking for some good old rock n roll to buy. This is your album. Dee Snider's vocals are great as always and the drum sound is better on here then "Stay Hungry" though I love both albums. The tones are different for sure. I have not heard the remastered version of this. So, I cannot compare it to that. I'm glad I got the CD and that is the bottom line.

This their best album, it might not have had the most sales and music videos in its day, but it rocks the best.

Serious Twisted Sister here, and no! You Can't Stop Rock N Roll.
This is a very serious Twisted a little less Sister CD. First off lets start with Like a knife in the back, The power and the Glory, The Kid's are Back, I've Had Enough, and You can't stop Rock N Roll. All these are worth buying this CD. But there's not a weak song on the album. There's also 3 bonus tracks One Man Woman, Feel The Power, and my favorite Four Barrel Heart Of Love. Enough said buy the damn thing you won't be sorry and you'll make Dee Snider happy.

No sophomore jinx here...
While not as good as "Under the Blade", Twisted Sister's second effort "You Can't Stop Rock&Roll" is the next best thing. It isn't as commercial as some of their later stuff, which makes it great(I'm not a big fan of their "We're Not Gonna Take It" era). "The Kids Are Back","Like a Knife in the Back", and the title track drive this one. The only slow point on this one is the quasi-ballad "You're Not Alone(Suzette's Song)". Not one of my favorites but it's okay. Great 80's metal album! PLAY IT LOUD,MUTHA'!

Possibly Their Best
While their debut record was hard, lo-fi punk rock, by the time of "You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll" they had cleaned their sound up abit. It was a little poppier possibly but it still contains in my opinion their best collection of tunes. The production is really good, very bass heavy, and Snider is in fine voice. "The Kids Are Back" & "I Am (I'm Me)" were classic singalong anthems, but album tracks such as "We're Gonna Make It" & "I've Had Enough" were equally strong. TS sold out to MTV with "Stay Hungry" in 1984, and turned pop-metal, and although the album Stay Hungry was great, the videos and over exposure were not. They never recovered but pick this up & the debut "Under The Blade" and you have their best 2 efforts.
