French and Native North American Marriages, 1600-1800

Among so many other things, this book contains alphabetical names and details of Native marriages from A to Z of eastern Canada and upper New England areas and more, and a glossary of useful locations on the history of Huron and other tribes on the internet for further research, and a detailed biography of the author, Paul Bunnell who has devoted his life to the genealogical study and of Native American ancestry. Very nice glossy cover, a very well put together book especially in the age of quick print publications. This book is a must have for anyone interested in learning about our earliest ancestors. It is information that is impossible to get a hold of without a genealogist.

This appears to be part of Mr. Bunnell's personal quest, but it might have been better entitled French and Native American Births, Baptisms, and Marriages. Also, it could be more apparent as to which areas he is recording from. My primary interests are the Green Bay, Prairie DuChein, and Michigan areas, so this did not help much. His abbreviations are a little difficult to follow. However, it is good to see this information recorded and I thank him for his efforts. Gail Morin is still my favorite.

.. Very interesting from what I have read to this time. Gives much insight and knowledge of life in those times.

Disappointed because my family name, Brouillard, is not mentioned, but of course that's not the fault of the brief.

This book helped me solve many mysteries on my geneology. If you have French and Native North American roots - buy this book!

just what I'm looking for

Informative book

Excellent reference!

Personally, I found the book interesting but was disappointed that it didn't contain more information. There are a vast number of Metis marriages and this book touches only a very small fraction of them. I did not see mentioned any names I have already discovered during my family history search. But hey, this isn't the first book by authors (not this one) that has provided limited information.

Book like new and delviered as promised. Good for Geneology.
