It is very sturdy. It requires a screwdriver or the hex key it comes with, I have my iPad 9.7" in it. It has to be put in landscape, but can be turned 360 to be used vertical. I have it mounted at the corner of my desk facing me. I usually put my finger on the back of the iPad when I am pushing on the screen, but is not necessary. Mostly when I want to push buttons, just to avoid any unnecessarypressure or wear and tear. It is perfectly steady and doesn't move, unless I bump the desk... But it is moving with the desk, not independently. I did have to remove the iPad's case because it was to thick to fit. It is not mostly plastic as the person below stated... Arms and clamp are metal, only the holder clamp is plastic.

Doesn’t fit my iPad, but beyond that it is clearly used. The arm is scratched, the rubber padding is missing, the plastic bags were ripped open. If the product had fit my iPad, the extension arm is so stiff that it is difficult to maneuver. Not a quality product even for the reasonable price. Looking elsewhere.

Wasn't able to hold my old 12 inches iPad Pro because it was too heavy, I'm having a 7inch tablet and it's just fine now

works great, it holds my tablet and phone just fine. But the product page advertises that it can hold the switch which it can not, unless the joycons are removed. I think is kind of silly

This has solved all my wants. I use a Tabas my viewing needs in van life. One thing though. The one screw needed thred lock. The one That attaches the main body to the clamp kept vibrating out. I was so worried when it happened. Thinking I would never find it. (I did though) after the 3rd time. I decided to use an adhesive to lock the tighning screw to the base mount. Since. No issues. Love it now.

Update: 20250212, 1 year and 6 days after original purchase, the arm has gone slack. My Samsung Tab S6 is suddenly too heavy to hold. It's been hanging off my monitor arm the whole time, but my wife stole my tablet for about 6 months to entertain our boys on the commute to day care, so it doesn't even hold the tablet every day...I just got this yesterday, so set up today, hanging off the arm of my monitor mount to serve as a 5th screen. The clamp and arm seem solid enough for a tablet, as it's not being "touched" all day long, just when I first get to work/leave for the day. The thumb screw that it uses to "clamp" to the desk/arm is in my opinion too small. It's hard to get a hold of, once the thing is assembled, especially as my setup has the tablet basically RIGHT next to the mount, at least for right now, so the arm partially covers the thumb screw, and since I have it "under" the arm, the screw is down too. But it's holding my Samsung Tab S6 in a pretty beefy case just fine, and I didn't adjust the arm screws at all, just mounted it, and ran with it.
