Expensive, but am pleased with the product so far!
I first bought this in march, and was very sceptical as to if this would do much, especially without a toothbrush, but it certainly seems to have reduced my guide dogs tartar, and it certainly keeps her breath a lot sweeter, as some Labradors and golden retrievers, of which my dog is a cross of both, can tend to have bad breath, and sweet breath is more pleasant for everyone! I have used both the peppermint and the salmon flavours and my dog wasn't too keen on either to start with, but soon accepted it, but I tend to stick to the salmon flavour now. I use a micro fibre finger brush to clean my dogs teeth, as there's no way she'll tolerate a toothbrush, and between the two, it has reduced the mild tartar on her teeth, and it makes toothbrushing time easier for her to bare, especially as she wasn't used to having her teeth cleaned at all. I do think it's pricey, but I've usually managed to get when it was on offer, so have enough stock for some time to come. I can't say it's a miracle product, but if it helps to minimise the risk of future tooth problems for my dog then I'm doing something right, which has got to be better than doing nothing at all.

Excellent product
I have used this product for about 2 years and cannot recommend it highly enough. It is so good that when my dog has her twice yearly check up the vet always comments on how clean her teeth are. Last time she had her check up the vet asked what product I used and said she would get some for her dogs.

It helps although dog isn't keen
I noticed my 4 year old was beginning to get stains and plaque on his teeth. I started an intensive campaign to clean his teeth and return them to their former glory. I use this gel in combination with other things so could never comment on what this gel would be like as a stand alone treatment but it is billed as a softener of plaque so what I do on an evening is brush his teeth with a dog toothpaste and then rub this gel into his gums and teeth. He isn't too keen on it but tolerates it. I also use a homeopathic remedy called fragaria and add some seaweed to his food. His teeth are a whole lot better now. It took about a month to get them back nice again.

Not a substitute for brushing
Dog doesn't like the smell or taste.ExpensiveRecommended you keep in the fridge but the stuff is hard enough to get out already so will being colder help or make it impossibleNo food or water 1/2 hours after use so does the suggestion to put on a treat count? For me its been a waste of money as I am not going to force this into her mouth every day when she is just getting to be more tolerant of having her teeth brushed. She is a poodle so it's a long way to the back teeth!

I've heard so many good things, just started using it on my dogs teeth today, the good news - the dog likes the flavour so it's all good.

As long as I have dogs I will buy this.
Product arrived in the old style bottle so I hope it isn't out of date, especially as I have seen the old stock selling for £6 less than I paid? That said, I still paid £5 less than when I used to first buy it direct from Petzlife. This has always been a great product. My 13 year old Border Collie is always complimented on his good teeth by the vet each year at his checkup. Both of my dogs are reluctant to have their teeth brushed but using the Petzlife oral care gel means it doesn't have to be done as often without endangering their oral hygiene.

No substitute for brushing.
I didn't see any results after daily use for 2 months. My dogs teeth aren't massively bad either. There's no replacement for brushing, this is the only way I can keep the plaque down.It does have a nice Salmon taste though that he likes. Perhaps if your dog's teeth are really bad it may help along with other methods.

The cats hate the peppermint flavor and run as soon as they see me coming. I also noticed on the bottle that it says "FOR DOGS" yet the description on Amazon says it is for Dogs and Cats! I just used it on my dog and he wasn't keen on it either but I will use it anyway and continue with his brushing every 2nd night.

It works ~~~ but use caution!!!
I started using this on my Greyhound. I used it for several years with no problems at all. Her teeth were in excellent shape. My vet said he had never seen a Greyhound with such clean mouth & teeth. This product saved us from having dentals done on her and saved us a lot of money as well. My caution will not apply to most dogs at all. I have started using this on a three pound dog. I started very slowly using one spray only twice a week. After using it for one month, I started using it every other night. After using it last night, this morning she threw up and there was blood in it. I started reading on all of the causes of this happening. I checked the ingredient labels on her dog food and on this spray. I was shocked to see that it contains Grain Alcohol. Alcohol irritates your digestive system. Drinking – even a little – makes your stomach produce more acid than usual, which can in turn cause gastritis (the inflammation of the stomach lining). This triggers stomach pain, vomiting, & diarrhea with blood included. I think one spray of this is to much alcohol for a three pound dog. If you have a very tiny dog, please be careful on the amount you spray into their mouth. I know this spray does what it says it will do, so I plan to wait a couple of weeks and start her back on it again. I think I will put one spray onto my hand, wipe away half of it, then rub the other half on her gums. I will update this review in a month or two to report how my plan is working for her. She is nine years old and a Beiwer Terrier. She only has her dog food and this spray so I know she has been doing well on her food.

Safe and effective
I was thrilled to find a natural nontoxic and affordable solution to gum disease and very happy that I recognized all the ingredients especially neem which is antibacterial and safe to ingest as tea for humans as well. It is not gel but thin as water which is the only down side because my dog is afraid of the sound of spraying (sounds like hissing which is instictually a warning to dogs) I got her used to it by spraying on a "greenie" and rewarding her with it for a while before she let me spray in her mouth. I did try it myself for a few weeks just to test if it created any sensitivity and it didnt. My dog is I.G. which tend to have peridontal issues and doesnt tolerate brushing at all no matter what I did she would shake from fear of tooth brushing (drama queen) and anesthesia seems too risky for teeth cleaning. I will need to update as to the results whenever tolerated daily. Has a slight bitter taste but doesnt linger or burn.

Seems to work :)
My 10 year old Great Dane, had pretty bad tartar on his teeth and since he prefers to swallow his food mostly with minimal chewing, even the cleaning snacks you can buy I was looking for something else. I did not want to brush his teeth, so this spray was worth a try and it's great. He is not a fan but he waits patiently and his teeth are now perfect.Highly recommend it. I also got the powder you put in the water without taste but I think he tastes something because he never drinks all of the water, I have to add fresh water in his bowl.

Great product but no safety seal!
No safety seal. Had to return twice. The product itself is great. I've used it for years. Dogs love the taste and they sit in line to get their teeth sprayed. I've only cleaned my German Shepherds teeth once with the vet and she's 6 with great teeth. So I would say the product works great but make sure it has a plastic seal.
