The perfect UPS for your home office! Just be aware of 90-degree IEC plugs.
My old Eaton EX 1500 UPS (which was in excess of 6 years old) recently stopped working properly and, after finding the correct replacement batteries, I was told it could also be a fault with the internal charger responsible for maintaining the batteries. So I started looking for a whole new UPS. I did a few loops of Google, Amazon as well as APC's website (which wasn't enjoyable to use) and, after finding hardly any reviews and definitive information on which UPS to buy on Google or so called 'specialist' websites, I went with this Powerwalker 2200.First impressions are that this UPS is fantastic! In normal mode it's almost totally silent - so if you work in a home office you won't notice it over the usual hum of your computer - which is great, as my old Eaton EX 1500 had a fan that was always on. During normal operation, there's a slight buzzing noise, but it's barely noticeable - it's likely just the internal components managing the input/output voltage as well as being ready to balance the load if there's a power cut.The unit itself is pretty small and unobtrusive, it just weighs quite a bit for its size - which is probably just the weight of the batteries inside.I spent a lot of time looking for a suitable UPS and I'm really happy I chose this one. For the price it's great value, as I'm confident I'll get 30-45mins of run time if we have a power cut (based on another person's review and my initial tests). I'm powering a 24" Dell monitor, a mid-2010 Mac Pro tower and a vinyl cutter used to make stickers. The cold-start feature works well too - simply turn it on and you've got instant access to 240v, without it being turned on at the wall. When you simulate a power cut (turning the UPS off at the wall) the load instantly gets taken up by the UPS with zero latency. An issue with 90-degree UK IEC plugs: If you haven't got one already, you'll need to buy a multi-gang power cable/adaptor as the UPS doesn't come with one, so you won't be able to plug your computer in, etc. Make sure the gang socket cable doesn't have a 90-degree IEC plug, as the cable doesn't clear the ground/surface when it's plugged into the back of the UPS. The IEC cable needs to come straight out of the back of the UPS... hopefully that makes sense? See the photos I've included.Overall, though, If you're on the fence, definitely buy this UPS as it'll cover all of your needs if you need to have an 'insurance policy' for your computer equipment if you have a power cut.

A nice quality product, good feel, good function.
A well-made product, feels solid with no cheap corner cutting. Easy to set up. I did have one problem accessing the menu to turn off the audible beep which comes on every 10s during power cuts. I emailed the support address listed on the website and got quick friendly and professional replies from a team in Germany. The sort of support you don't get often these days - real people with real email addresses cc:ing each other on the problem, not "type between the lines" and some clown will come back to you reading a troubleshooting list out.I am using it for the home TV/DVR area as we get a few power cuts in the winter and the kids go mental. I tested it by switching off the mains sockets and the system doesn't blink. The fan fires up a little bit noisy but not too bad and there is no loss to the viewing. I might get another one for the fridge/freezer!Add-on: 2017. I have three of these now. I am a bit disappointed with the battery life when not used much. I have had very few interruptions and the newest one has had no interruptions, but the fan now stays on permanently. The battery seems to get worn out quite quickly for something not used much. Shouldn't they last more than 2 years of very light usage? The replacement batteries are quite expensive. I now think I will simply get a Generator as we have fewer power cuts than we used to and the utility of this device is now reduced for me.

Great value, works fine
I bought this for my file server. I plugged the computer into the IEC socket and used the two spare 3 pin plugs for my router and modem. Tested by turning the power input to the UPS off, it kept my computer and router+modem running fine. I performed an extended test on just the router+modem to see if it would keep those running and they worked fine too. The audible alarms are loud enough to hear if you're in the room with it, but probably not if you're a few rooms away or the door is closed. The only negatives I have with it are the front LCD display is quite bright in the dark and cannot be turned off, easily fixed with a piece of card or something. It also produces a high pitched tone that seems to occur either during charging, or just during it's first few hours of operation, I stopped noticing it after a day.

Perfect UPS at the price and good support.
I have used quite a few of these UPS devices in my time including APC and other generic brands. What strikes me about this particular UPS is that it seems very reactive. What I mean by that is when you power it on it pretty much knows what is going on. It tells you accurately what power is inputting the device on its clean display and what it is able to output. The power button is perfect. Press it in, it turns on. Press it out it turns off. I have had so many UPS devices which beep and argue. This one is simple, turn it off to stop it complaining.Setup is a doddle, it provides compatibility with many NAS devices, particularly ASUSTOR which they have partnered with and is the reason I purchased it in the first place. I have had lots of bad history with UPS devices failing or beeping for no reason. This one seems to be much more stable than the rest and I am confident it is going to work well in my NAS setup. I will update this review once I have more to say - particularly how it performs when my NAS is fully loaded.
