Seemed like it was loading then BAM
Item fails on 5ghz selection. Installed driver, connected device. Windows loaded device driver and said it as ready. I disabled my LAN so WiFi would show up. I had lots of connections to choose from. So, I first went for the 5ghz. Seemed like it was loading then BAM! WiFi connection dropped, device no longer showing up. Ok then. Removed device, rebooted. Installed device again. Windows loaded driver, said it was ready. Tried 5ghz again. BAM!, dropped the device out of the system. Ok, lets try something else. Removed device, inserted again. This time, I selected a 2.4ghz connection. Now it's stable. Thought maybe, the driver was hosed. Uninstalled. Rebooted with device removed, re-installed the driver. Device shows up and read for use, Ok, then I tried another 5ghz SSID I have setup. BAM! dropped. WTH? Tried all the above again but went with 2.4ghz. All is well. Not going to give the seller a chance to respond. No need. Too many OTHER options. Giving it a 1 star and sending it back. I'll buy another from someone/somewhere else. So, buyer beware.

Return to Planet Broadband?
1200Mbps Wireless USB Wifi Adapter , ZIJIEZ Dual Band 2.4G/5G 802.11ac Network Adapter USB Wi-Fi Dongle Adapter With 5dBi Antenna For Laptop Desktop Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10,Mac OS X 10.9-10.12. Despite signal boosters on each floor and one in the same room as my computer, the Wifi quality in my 3-story building ranges from occasional to inconsistent. When a particularly slow (and sometimes rainy) weekend nearly resulted in my missing a particularly important deadline, action had to be taken.I approached a neighbor who had a small antenna sticking out her laptop and asked where she'd gotten her portable hotspot. She explained that it was a USB Wifi adapter, and saw no reason why one wouldn't work on a desktop. The ZIJIEZ sounded like it would be the best fit for my 2011 Mac Mini running 0SX 13.2.Before unpacking it, I reset the building's signal boosters (I reset the one on the second floor at least twice a day). After installing the software first as per the instructions (which are in such a small typeface you may need a magnifying glass), I plugged the ZIJIEZ into the back of my Mac and did a little creative placement of the signal boosters on my floor and in my room. Now, it's almost like being back on Planet Broadband! The only thing that's been occasional are the live streaming lags; transferring large files is faster; bad weather is ignored; my productivity has made a comeback (the seconds that pass by waiting for pages to load DO add up). And best of all, there's been a LOT less fussing with the signal boosters!

Died after hardly two months!
Worked great! Keyword being "worked."This thing just completely died on me, after hardly two months of use.Took it apart to see if I could see anything that looked off, and though I have no real idea what to look for as far as boards are concerned, the antenna looks very sloppily soldered onto it on one side. Copious amounts of glue hold the board to its casing. Tiny bits of solder are sprinkled near the area. Glue appears present on components near the USB side. Going by these details, I can assume that this thing isn't assembled very well, and probably contributed to its pathetically short lifespan. If you're looking for a cheap temporary fix, this'll probably suit you fine. If you're looking for something to last a rather long time like I was however, look elsewhere.

AC dual band Wifi antenna
Very fast, works much better than built in Wi-Fi card. Speedtest.net indicated a speed of 216mbps about 30' from router. My max speed is 250mbps over 10mbps. The laptop I used this on use to connect at about 27mbps on the 2.4 band on the a/c router with built in card.. As you can see very fast by comparison. Very happy!!.The only downside is the load this puts on your usb jack. The usb must not be loose. The fit on this item may change on different computer usb jacks. I would support this antenna with a little foam block so the weight of it is not being too much for the usb jack to handle. If your main problem is range, then this is 1 option that will work well. You may also use another router in access point mode but will loose your portability. If you are buying this antenna to connect to a 5ghz band or an a/c router then you may not need the antenna type if close to router. This way the load on the usb jack is preserved unless you know how to adjust usb jack for tightness. My 2c, hope this helps somebody. John

The good, the bad, and the ugly.
With this product you have to take the good with the bad. I purchased this adapter because my computer would not connect to 5G networks, I currently have 200 mbps internet speed and I like to play online games so I really needed this adapter. Unfortunately it has a mind of its own at times, sometimes when I log in to my computer it takes 5-10 minutes to connect to my 5G internet and I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Sometimes it just works as soon as I log into my computer. Then the hardware has now started to fall apart. The plastic body literally came apart from the heat it produces melting the glue. I wish it worked better and stood together in one piece. Yes, I do have plenty of ventilation for my pc.

It Works
works great, can see a real inprovement over the OEM wifi card, I attribute that to the antenna. easy to set up and use, would recoment it to anyone looking to boost their signal reception and overal traffic throughput.
