Stronger/better than competitor and jiaogulan's overall effects
This jiaogulan isn't as sweet as immortalitea's brand, but it definitely seems to be stronger, and in my opinion better. I originally attributed the sweetness of the competitor's brand to a higher quality, but I think this is wrong. It seems stronger and less prone to some of jiaogulan's negative effects, and it's cheaper. The main immediate effect I get from my daily (1-2 cups) jiaogulan use is the distinct feeling of stress "melting" (like it's gone and won't come back), which seems tied to it's anti-anxiety effect. This effect sometimes leads to remarkable moments of grace and coordination during stressful moments. It's a blood thinner, so if you take too much you can get nosebleeds (or potentially/theoretically worse). Make sure you know this if you take anything that interacts with blood thinners. Both brands are similar in these regards. The one thing I think most people don't understand about jiaogulan is that the bulk of it's effects aren't felt immediately. It's immediate effect is anti-anxiety and relaxing, but in the whole jiaogulan is a pretty powerful stimulant. It's indirect and cumulative effects are markedly stronger than it's immediate effects. Those effects are quite strong compared to many herbal medicines. It's definitely qualitatively stronger than caffeine for me, and I used to drink 3-4 shots of espresso daily. What's neat is that, like chamomile (as sachels in baths), direct contact with the tea has a muscle relaxing effect (sometimes I rub a couple drops of tea on my back). What's even neater is that it has a painkilling effect both immediately and as an indirect effect in the morning, but it isn't addictive. It's also good at regulating blood sugar. Ginseng doesn't have those last two effects at all. I'd say this brand is significantly more painkilling and also (strangely) more stimulating. The other brand seems more anti-anxiety.Jiaogulan regulates my sleep schedule significantly. I'll fall sleep earlier and wake up earlier, and it seems to be associated with an increased sensitivity to light/dark and hormones. I seem to somehow know more precisely what time of day it is (like 9:10am). For the first hour or two in the morning, you get an overall sense of wellbeing, dilated blood vessels, and a massive (and sometimes frustratingly unmanagable) erection along with increased libido. On the negative side, by taking too much (3+ cups daily) I sleep much later (rather than earlier) but still wake up naturally very early (7-8am) with the same effects. Sometimes I'll be tired from lack of sleep but energetic from the tea. With 1-2 cups daily, it will make you sleep pretty early at night, but with high doses you won't be able to sleep early at night or through the morning (but midday naps work). It also seems to have some effect on improving concentration/intelligence, but it's hard to say if it's an indirect benefit or if it's direct and can be (at least) partially explained by it's effect on dilating blood vessels. Both brands are similar in these regards.

Great as a light tea
Very strong, so steep for a minute less than instructed and don't use boiling water. Great as a light tea!

The best
This was the first brand I tried. The flavor was unusual, a slightly sweet and smoky taste. I came to love and crave it all of the time.I tried more popular competitors (which sell in bulk for better value), but I found the flavor to be bland… it was missing the unusual flavors that I came to love.More importantly, I don’t crave the other brands like I do this one. You may or may not dismiss this as quackery, but I believe the craving is not for the flavor but for the contents of the tea.All brands of Jiao Gulan leave a bit debris at the bottom of your glass and I have found this brand to be especially “dirty”. If this is a problem for you try using tea basket destined to handle coffee. I also noted that they include stems when other brands don’t.Try brewing with a little honey and a Hibiscus roselle then pour it on ice for a refreshing treat.

Regeneration tea
Good product, fast delivery. The tea, however, as much as I tried to whip it up with the bamboo chasen never became frothy and jade in color.

Very calm, clearheaded, and alert feeling
I brew this tea in the morning with 170 degree water. By lunchtime I notice that I have a very calm, clearheaded, and alert feeling. I am sensitive to caffeine, and this tea does not give me a jittery feeling like green tea and black tea does. I have tried brewing the tea for both 3 minutes and 5 minutes. At 3 minutes there is very little bitterness, just a mellow earthy flavor. At 5 minutes there is definitely a bitter flavor.Someone that I know has been to China, and he told me that it is very common for Chinese to brew tea 3 times using the same leaves.***UPDATE 5/12/2015***This is good quality jiaogulan, but one thing that I didn't like about it was that there always seemed to be bits of dirt/sand at the bottom of the cup. I didn't like the gritty feeling in my mouth when taking my last sip of tea. When I finished the package I bought jiaogulan from a company called Immortalitea (google it). Immortalitea's jiaogulan leaves less grit at the bottom of the cup, although honestly there is still a small amount of grit. The best thing about Immortalitea is you can buy it in bulk from their website, I bought 2 pounds for $100!

Exteremy Bitter and sandy....YUCK!
The tea was sandy/gritty and extremely bitter tasting. I followed the instructions on the package and on YouTube. I'm not sure if this is normal but I felt slightly high after drinking a cup. I would not try any tea from this company again.

And what I distinctly remember this tasting like was sort of a primordial Jungle flavor
I have not taken this in a while, I do remember when I did take it, The flavor was exactly as it was stated, I believe it was sort of Jungle esque. I have taken many brews/compounds etc. And what I distinctly remember this tasting like was sort of a primordial Jungle flavor. It did not taste bad, and did not taste like your typical plant matter. However, at the time, I was unaware of any "stimulant" like effects this may provide, recalling the experience, it was mid day morning around 10 amish to 2 afternoon. time of day affects "energetics" or Qi/chi, and I believe I noticed a decent calm throughout the day. Not super strong enough to notice or throw you off, Just a gentle cumulative relaxation and possibly a higher clarity. I had been taking it daily for an extended time frame, but since have been taking others...Being similar to ginseng, and the folklore surrounding it, what sold me was the adaptive qualities and strength and growth characteristics of the plant itself. It matches the flavor it has, so this plant is very truthful in regards to its qualities. One can easily replace habits in life, merely with preparing and drinking a cup of tea.
