Worked in the end, but check your card and HDMI cable!
After a frustrating couple of days, I finally got this to display 4k 60hz on a 4k TV from my AMD R9 290. So, as far as I can tell... the cable works. But there's a few hoops to jump through to get it to work:- you need a HDMI 2.0 ready HDMI cable. Most cables sold in the last few years are 2.0 ready, or you can buy one quite cheaply. There are some inconsistencies across using cables from other devices. For example, the Nintendo Switch HDMI cable isn't 2.0 ready, but the one that comes with a Steam Link is. So try a few out.- you may need to tinker with settings in your TV - some people have had luck enabling settings along the lines of 'super resolution' or 'ultra HD colour' settings. On my Philips Ambilight TV, I couldn't find anything that worked.- For older AMD R9 series graphics cards, many of them claim to support 4k 60hz over their display ports, but not the HDMI port. But some time in 2017, AMD updated their drivers and broke (or removed) the 4k 60hz compatibility. And they still haven't fixed it. So the only way I've got this working is to roll back AMD's graphics drivers to an older version (16.12.1) and prevent them from installing newer updates. I haven't properly roadtested it on any newer games, but so far I haven't ran into any compatibility issues caused by using old drivers. So, the cable works (for now!). But any number of graphics card/cable/TV related settings can cause it not to work... so consider how much you're prepared to spend on giving yourself a headache and finding that happy balance hardwares.

Eventually working at 4K@60Hz, Dell Laptop, Samusung 4k TV
Having bought a Samsung 40" KU6020 4k for use as a monitor with my Dell E5250 I was dissapointed that I could only achieve 4K@30hz with my existing setup, this was frustrating as it means choppy scrolling and mouse action. After some research it turns out that for 60Hz I needed an "ACTIVE" Display port to HDMI 2.0 adapter so I bought one of these.Eventually I got this working as expected at 4K@60Hz with UHD colour but it was painful getting there as I had several further hurdles to cross.Heres what I learnt along the way:1) The laptop must have a version of the Intel drivers that allow you to create a custom resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz, you must use CVT-RB timing.2) The Dell Docking Unit must have the internal wiring needed for multi stream DP (MST). I found out the hard way only the latter USB3.0 ones with the blue USB connectors will work. The one that worked for me was the Eport II advanced, with 2 display ports and 2 DVI ports.3) Only works on HDMI 1 of the Samsung TV with HDMI UHD colour turned on, without this setting only 30Hz is possible.4) Buying an expensive HDMI cable was a red herring, once I replaced the dock I found all my cheap HDMI cables worked fine with 4k@60Hz.5) I can also use my second 1080p monitor and the laptop screen at the same time.6) The CPU in the laptop also has a bearing on wether 4k@60Hz is possible, my i5 5300U was ok.So finally after a few weeks of playing around I have the elusive 4K@60Hz with full UHD colour, result!

Can't fault the operation!
Great all-round item, pluggable never seem to give me issues and I've used many of their adaptors over the years. My only axe is that they are overly expensive, in fact they have increased 20% since I purchased six weeks ago! But then, that is my choise to pay that much, it does not detract from the fact that they always just work and are reliable and seem to be well made.Be aware that not all adaptors do 4K @ 60Hz, so don't be disappointed if you get the wrong one and find it doesn't perform as well as you expected - they do declare its capabilities, so choose carefully!

Great Adapter 60Hz at a 4K Resolution - Cost seems high for what it is but price up an additional GPU and PSU?
Fantastic. BE AWARE, there’s a lot of duds on the market including Amazon...They state they support 4K Resolutions, however sometimes they don’t state refresh rates many people won’t think about when ordering, or some listings lie about the refresh rates they support. 4K resolutions being limited to 30Hz. This actually does support 4K resolutions at 60Hz which is exactly what I wanted. If you have an Older Graphics Card like me, that doesn’t have a HDMI 2.0 port, but does have a DisplayPort which is capable of a 4K resolution then this will work great between your PC and 4K TV at a 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 60Hz.I’ve been having issues however when playing some UHD content on the TV with stuttering and jumping when playing content off of some HDD’s.I’ve decided to purchase an additional SSD that when playing UHD content I’ll use that SSD to see if that helps keep a fluid playback. If that doesn’t work I think looking into purchasing an alternative improved PSU before purchasing another Graphics Card, that if it was improved anyway it would need more Power anyways. Then if all else fails I’d be in a solid position to know a new improved Graphics Card would solve the playback issue and I’d probably then have no use for this adapter. Until then it’s worth waiting so I can save the money and purchase the additional components needed, yet still having a 4K Resolution and 60Hz refresh rate through a 4K display.Anyone else in a similar position should consider this adapter.

Works with my Steam Dock
This was the final piece of tech I needed to get my multiple displays set-up using my Steam Deck and a 7-in-1 docking station from JSAUX. My secondary display supports HDMI mini and USB-C. Using this adapter alongside a simple HDMI mini adapter worked a treat.
