The Art of Learning a Foreign Language: 25 Things I Wish They Told Me

While many language books cover similar topics, I really enjoyed the author’s point of view and informal writing style. I especially enjoyed the chapters on atomic habits, as I haven’t encountered those recommendations before and recognized how simple yet over looked they are. I even took notes :)

The book is a great introduction into the study of foreign languages. The author makes interesting observations and provides useful advice.

This book is fantastic!!Very informative and entertaining to read. The author makes great points regarding the many facets and considerations of learning a new language that I have not read in other sources.This book has motivated me to continue my journey toward learning Spanish. The author takes care to help guide the reader in finding what motivations one has to become fluent in a new language. The author also helps the reader set realistic expectations concerning the time and effort it takes to learn a new language. I found establishing my motivations clearly and putting things into perspective by considering the whole of the task hugely helpful and motivational.Very engaging and I learned a lot along the way. This book is excellent!!

The author is fantastic at giving insights into his experience learning different languages. He gives actionable steps to take. What pitfalls to avoid. And, the opportunities learning a foreign language can provide for an individual as well as meshing divide between two cultures .

I lived in Japan for 2 years in the military and now currently work in the Middle East. Both times I’ve attempted learning the host language with no guidance or structure. This book really lays out things you need to know before during and after your language learning journey.. Definitely worth the buy for me.

This book really helped put learning any language into perspective. The author uses his years of experience to help readers avoid common mistakes that language learners tend to make. Couldn’t recommend enough!!

Great book! As some who teaches ESL and is interested in all aspects of language this book made great points that I will use inside and outside the classroom.

I like this book because although I have read lots of books about language learning, this book, has given me a few new ideas. I am using this book to re-motive me in my language journey as I seem to always need new ideas to keep pushing onward.Excellent book which is teaching me a lot.
