Originally I give a 1. After unscrewing the top , I found it was assembled wrong. The air bag to compress air into the bottle was upside down.Well lo and behold the pump works like it’s intended use. Sorry but not . Why can’t they educate slave labor to up and down.Anyway it works after you fix it.

The base do not tighten over mouth securely, which means it wiggles and pumps nothing but air and the spring get stuck.

This makes a great transfer pump to move drinking water from it's large 4 gallon plastic jug into a smaller 1 gallon pitcher or jug. Might not seem like a big deal unless you ever have a weight restriction put on you. works perfectly for me.

So it's cheap and simple but there's a problem. It doesn't hold a good enough seal to properly suction water up and out. It does come with a twist/turn dial on it but you essentially max out and the thing still is loose. So I found a cheap solution that makes this cheap pump worth it!Cut 3 equal squares of foil paper at least 6"x6" and place them over the water bottles open top. Go ahead and fold it down and around the top of the bottle and make sure it's nice and snug. You should probably put one on at a time. Then with a knife punch an X in it the size of plastic pipe that's on the pump and that runs down into the 5gal bottle.Place the pump over it with the pipe installed and push it down over the foil, then screw down the dial and presto! Suction all the way through! Save yourself the hassle and do this.

Product works as described. So glad I purchased well worth the money. Pumps with no problem.

Simple gadget that works.I've seen where someone reported this item did not work...it must have been defective somehow because the one I just received works on the first try. Fits a regular 5 gallon jug. Simply put the 3 tubes together, attach it to the pump ,secure it all to the jug opening snugly and pump. A simple solution ....no batteries.Not very robust...but then it's not necessary. Cool!
