Really awesome... very good on first listen and gets better every repeat
This one slipped through the cracks for me when it was released a few years back... but then I read an interview recently from the owner of Frontiers Records, which keeps releasing great things from so many artists I like. Anyway, in the review they asked him about any of his favorite albums they have done that sort of went unnoticed. This was one of the CDs he mentioned... and given how much I like the work they do at his company, I took him on his word and checked it out. I heard a preview of the first song and liked it and the vocals instantly... once I heard it was Marci Free, that was all I needed to know it was worth buying. I have always been a strong fan of Mark/Marci Free's more rocking work (King Kobra and onward)... the vocals are key to why this CD is amazing. The layering, the choice of pitch, melody, pace, timing, harmony and all is like a lesson in how to sing vocals and be unique and interesting. Song to song the vocals will even take on different tones and feels... it is a vocal masterpiece. The more I have listened to the album, the more I have craved listening to it. It is solid 80s style hard rock with a touch of hair metal... with strong hooks, great songs, tons of melody, great production and music that matches the vocal mastery.

Perfect vocals result in a classic album!
It doesn't get much better than this in the world of melodic rock with the original Unruly Child lineup creating a masterpiece album in 2010. The music here is absolutely classic with every song having a great chorus, lots of hooks, and some of the best production I've heard on a modern album. The sound is steeped in the eighties with lots of layering of electric and acoustic guitars, awesome keyboard parts that enhance the riffs, and a big rocking drum sound too. The band stays true to their style and gives fans what they want. The best thing about this album are the killer vocals by Mark (Macie) Free - absolutely outstanding! The melodies are stunning and the vocal arrangements are just of such a high quality that it makes this album a classic. Every song is a highlight but check out the nostalgic opener "Show Me The Money", the chorus hook of "When We Were Young", the stunningly memorable "Read My Mind", and the melodic perfection of "Very First Time". Worlds Collide is a modern classic from Unruly Child and will go down as one of the best albums in a very strong year for melodic rock. Essential for melodic rock fans who want to hear some of the best vocals ever recorded.

When Worlds Collide
Unruly Child has come up with a truly inspired smash hit with their comeback CD "worlds Collide". Marcie Free's dynamic voice and range really kick in these songs and Bruce Gordy's guitar work is award winning. The whole band is very tight. It is refreshing to hear some truly melodic rock 'n roll again! From the whistful "When We Were Young" to the rocking title track "Worlds Collide" and the song that I feel is the CDs first single "Very First Time", I will be listening to this album for years to come. I very highly recomend this CD.

"Worlds Collide" is a genuine musical statement from the reunited original line up of "Unruly Child"
"Worlds collide" is the brand new, overall 4th studio album by American AOR/melodic rock band "Unruly Child". "Worlds Collide marks the reunion of the original line up of guitarist Bruce Gowdy, keyboardist Guy Allison, bass player Larry Antonio, drummer Jay Schellen and lead singer Marcie/Mark Free.Taking a retrospective look on Mark Free's career, it becomes obvious that the singer never stayed with any group he fronted long enough to progressively reach major recognition and chart-topping success. On the other hand having released a considerable number of influential albums, whether that would be "King Kobra", "Signal", "Unruly Child" or solo, Free comes out a very experienced musician in the genres of glam metal, hard rock and AOR; And it is fair to say that on "World Collide" the vocalist revisits most of his/her approaches and the accumulated knowledge and ability of those years has not diminished one bit during his/her absence from the field."Unruly Child" re emerges a very confident band, with an album that switches effortlessly between AOR and hard rock incorporating style, melody and groove while surprisingly being big on sarcastic lyrics (namely "Show me the money") and irony ("Tell another lie"). In addition there is a fair amount of retrospectism with "When we were young", "Tell another lie" and "When worlds collide". Hence one could claim that "Worlds Collide" is a rather diverse album and, to its credit, no one song sounds alike another. Finally, despite Free being the focal point of the band, all members are given room to shine, from the keyboard melodies and openings to the rather unconventional drum fills, to the groovy guitar riffs and melodic solos, all members effectively showcase their class on this brand new album."Unruly Child" have managed to come up with an album full of substance that is definitely not you average AOR while effectively demonstrating all the characteristics of the genre. The more one listens to the album the more one realizes how much he missed this incarnation of the band."Classic Rock" UK magazine (issue 151) marks this album with 9/10 commenting: "This is the melodic album of 2010, and no mistake- You couldn't make this up"
