This placemat makes lunchtime a lot of fun for a toddler! You can spin all kinds of stories and conversation around the various pictures. Plus, the reverse is very educational for older children and adults!

I bought this place mat for my toddler who is almost tree as a placemat and educational tool. She is talking about the ocean with her pre school class at the moment and I thought it would be great to follow up at home and learn about different sea creatures while having lunch or dinner. I love the illustrations and there are a lot of different sea creatures on the mat (including their names). There is also a black and white list of sea creatures and their names in 4 different languages on the back. The purpose of the black and white is so that kids can colour the fish and animals which is great but I think that 2 languages and maybe some facts about the individual animals would be more useful (the languages are english, french, spanish and chinese).What bothers me the most about this place mat is that its pretty much a laminated piece of paper. Anyone with a laminator could make it at home themselves. I don't think its worth the money nor does it look like worth the money. It actually came with one corner bend over so there is already a mark on it even though we haven't used it as placemat yet. Also the mat is very smooth which makes plates move and slip easily. There are better options for educational place mats out there!

We bought this placemat for our homeschool lesson on the ocean. My 4 year old loved learning about all of the different sea creatures. The placemat is laminated with a thick laminating sheet so its pretty durable. The backside has the name of sea creatures in different languages - if my memory is correct it's English, Spanish, French and Chinese. We didn't use the backside this year as I found it to be a little too advanced for my daughter, but I'm happy that we'll be able to use it again next year and it won't just be the same lesson.

When I asked my grandchildren which of the place mats they wanted next and in unison they said the ocean explorer, well I could not disappoint them, so they got it. I am so glad I found something they really enjoy now when they are little; when they get older and more independent I will not be able to do these things for them because they will have developed their own interest, so I enjoy doing these things for them now.

I like this mat for its educational value and theme - there really is a lot of information on it- and my daughter was happy to look at it as well. The quality is sturdy and wipes clean easily. However, I should have paid attention to the dimensions, because it is really quite small. About double the size would have been perfect. I also find it is rather expensive for its size.

Durable laminate and made in the USA! No negatives on these great placemats. Punch holes in the top and use pink or boy colored Velcro straps to hang around playgates. Or double sided Velcro to hand on walls. Our 1.5 daughter, an animal lover, is very attracted to the design and colors. The whole family is impressed with the color and visual interest. Keep up the great quality.

My 2.5 yr old enjoys using this and looks at the fish pictures every time he eats. It cleans up easily and has been used daily for a few months and does not yet show any wear. It's a tad overpriced in my opinion but we do like it. The back Side is black and white outlines like a coloring book. We have used dry erase markers on it and my kid had a blast!

This placemat was requested by a six-year-old for our new dining table. I have to say, I am very impressed with it. The placemat was heavily laminated, which gave it an authentic, high-quality feel. The colors were vibrant and every animal was visible. The placemat helped with patience at the table, because he was able to entertain himself by looking at the animals. I wish the backside was different, but he enjoyed that just as well.
