KewtechLoopcheck 107 LOOPCHECK107 Mains Socket r with Loop Check, Grey, No Size

I bought this tester to try and find a RCD tripping fault that has occurred once or twice a year for the last 10 years. Although I thought the tester to be expensive I was at the end of my tether with Electricians unable to find the fault with an opinion that it is probable an intermittent appliance problem.Cutting to the chase, I tested 38 different 13A sockets in our cottage with no fault found and was about to give up, thinking I had wasted my money, when I remembered that there was a socket behind our cooker. Now this cooker is in use everyday, and has a clock, timer, piezo ignition, and an electric hot plate that all work fine. I plugged the tester into the socket and immediately it tripped the consumer unit RCD! I reset the RCD and tried testing adjacent sockets which all worked fine. I then retested the cooker socket and the RCD tripped again!I turned off the power and opened the socket to find that the live wire was pressing against the earth connection and that the insulation was damaged. I re-terminated the wires into a new 13A socket and Voila the problem was solved.I've got no idea why the cooker worked without tripping the RCD but boy am I pleased that I got this tester. Hopefully, there are no other faults now.

Best socket tester I have. And I've got four....This one has added functionality. Plus it's well made and doesn't feel as plasticy as cheaper, basic ones I have had in the past.
