Seems nice, doesn't fit my 17" Lenovo Y700
This seems like a decent laptop for the money. Showed up in a plastic bag wrapped in paper packing material inside an Amazon box. Thanks to other buyers for getting back to me on the inside dimensions of this bag. Unfortunately it does NOT fit the new (at the time of this writing) 17" Lenovo Y700 gaming laptop. On paper it should fit, but this bag is a little narrower at the top, as are most laptop backpacks.A side note I was very dubious about this bag because almost all of the reviewers had a disclaimer saying they got the bag for free or at a very deep discount for their "honest" review and all the reviews were glowing and positive. This being said, for the 10 min I messed with the bag, I have to admit for around $35 USD the zippers seemed decent, the material felt reasonable and the straps, while a little thin seemed fine. It seemed like you got a little more than you pay for, for this inexpensive laptop bag. The "leather" looking areas is not leather of course, but over all the fit and finish was pretty OK. I can't speak to the reliability of this bag long term. Dimensions of my laptop are below. Hope this helps future buyers.(inches) : 16.65" x 12.00" x 1.10"(mm) : 423 x 305 x 27.95

Good buy
This bag has held up good so far. I have been using it for about less than a month, but regularly. I carry my Dell 15.6 inches in this bag, along with occasional books. If the laptop is in there it leaves just about enough space for two normal sized books to get in the front pocket, along with a lunch box. Apart from that, there are ample amount of storage spaces for pens, wallets, secret wallet compartment as well for the extra emergency cash. overall, I like it. The false leather bottom has me a little worried, but so far so good.

Cheaply Manufactured
As soon as this product arrived I noticed some loose threads in the stitching just below the backpack's internal cavity which the zipper would catch on (I should have returned it right then and there).I gave it a little more time thinking perhaps it was not indicative of the quality of the bag, But, After about 3 or 4 weeks the threading on the shoulder strap of the backpack broke and detached completely exposing the foamy base of the shoulder strap.I wish I had known that I could take and include pictures for this review because I would have done so.The aesthetic was nice but the shoddy manufacturing ruins this product.I strongly recommend against buying this backpack.

Beware - no manufacturer's warranty. Jansport gives lifetime warranties, SwissGear's is three years.
This pack, much like online dating prospects, looked promising at first. I was drawn to the dark color with what I think is faux leather trim across the top and one entire piece of faux leather, no seams, across the bottom. And the pocket arrangement was good: two large compartments, one padded for a laptop, one for books: two outside pockets, one on top of the other: and two side/water bottle pockets. And the price - $30 - was right. However, after a mere 45 days of use one of the shoulder straps started to tear away from the top of the pack. A typical load was a 13 in. laptop, a text book, snacks!, and assorted pens and IPhone accessories. I never thought the pack would last more than a couple of years - it is only $30 - since the nylon and top handle felt thinner and less substantial than traditional name brand packs. But a seem rip at 45 days was a surprise.Fortunately, Amazon cut me a break and agreed to refund the purchase (less shipping) even though I was outside the 30 day return window. I happily went back to the old standby, Jansport, which I had as an undergrad (but gave to my sister), for the lifetime warranty.

(Not so) Great Buy
This bag is not bulky, is light, strong and has plenty of storage for all you would want to carry in the field including two side pockets (for water and coffee?).Edit. Removed two stars due to lack of durability. For the first time last week I carried more than the laptop in the bag why traveling, included iPad, phone, purse and little bits and pieces. The threading in both shoulder straps have started to show and there is a small tear in the bottom of the bag. I barely used the bag prior so I can't even argue wear and tear due to use.

Was surprised, better than i thought it was going to be
It's actually better than i thought it was going to be. It has nice back padded for comfort. A separate space for laptop. It has a few diifferent compartments which i wanted. It's not as big as i thought as well, which is good. I'm a 5'11" 180lbs(1.80m 81kg) male and it fits really good. I am happy with the purchase, it feels sturdy and not cheap and flimsy like some backpacks.

Looking for a better pack?
I have two Dell m6800 laptops. One barely fits inside it but the zippers do make it around. I was not happy with the "leather" which I concluded was plastic that would quickly break apart. Once I put the my laptop in I grabbed the two shoulder straps and shook it slightly from side to side. Both straps started to break where they were sewn in. I sent it back. Anybody have a recommendation for a rugged pack that will last ten plus years in this price range?

Now that it's about a month into the school year I feel comfortable reporting on it
I bought this a little while ago for school. Now that it's about a month into the school year I feel comfortable reporting on it. This backpack is a great purchase for the price. It fits my 17" aptop fine. There's plenty of room for a full size notebook, a binder, a planner, and a couple smaller notebooks. There are also plenty of packets for storage. I expected that it wouldn't hold up well, but so far I don't see any rips or tears. If it does only last a semester, for the price I'd still by a new one.
