the SLX is solid
I've replaced more derailleurs than seems reasonable in the last few years. I guess I land awkwardly and damage them? can't keep them clean? I don't know what happens but I got away from the SRAM because of cost and the SLX shifts as smooth if not better for less money. weight is not a concern on my eMTB

the B screw mount broke off
This is a flimsy design. The bike was not crashed. This caused additional damage to my spoke and left me stranded on a ride. I am waiting for the vendor to return my message regarding Shimano warranty. Update, the vendor has not returned my message. I am perusing warranty claim through an independent bike store

Expensive mistake
The clutch failed after a month or so of light use. On, the derailleur doesn't take up chain slack, no matter how light the friction is adjusted. Off, it's a no-clutch derailleur, and you need a chain guide in order to not drop your chain. Switch to SRAM or Box Components, and you need to replace the shifter and might need a new cassette. Oh, and Shimano XT and XTR rear derailleurs use the same clutch, so a simple upgrade in the Shimano family is a bad option, until Shimano drops this clutch design and releases an entirely different derailleur. Avoid.(Update: I talked to Shimano. They are aware of the problem. The axle that the clutch pivots on is prone to rusting. The problem is the O-ring seal letting in moisture. They have updated the design.)
