Disappointingly reassuring

I had a cough for several months and bought this hoping to be able to convince my GP that I had leprosy, arsenic poisoning or miner's lung. Sadly, day after day this thing kept showing that my oxygen saturation was excellent and my pulse rate normal. I now use it to measure my pulse while I watch horror films, which has been a much more entertaining pastime.

Reassurance in the CORONA crisis?

I bought an oxygen monitor because an NHS nurse used one on me a few months back. I hadn’t seen one before and thought it useful. I had gone to A&E with a pulse stuck at 144BPM and have since been diagnosed as a case of atypical atrial flutter with bouts of Afib. This PULSE OXIMETER CMS50D could easily have been what the NHS used, but I couldn’t be sure. It not only measures your blood oxygen saturation; it also reads pulse rate up to 260BPM, gives an indication of the pulse strength and an approximation of the ECG pattern. This last is a bit primitive, but it seems enough to show whether you are in flutter, fibrillation or in sinus rhythm. I am currently waiting on beta blockers for a further cardioversion, so this device offers some reassurance. You can also observe the effects of exercise and medication in real time. I guess, anything threatening lung-efficiency would show up … far from irrelevant in the Corona crisis I’d have thought, though I’m not a doctor, of course. Together with a medical thermometer it will certainly alert you to the slightest change in how well you are, faced with the present threat.I can’t comment on other models, but this one sold by SUNFREE arrived very quickly indeed, has batteries included and two sides of instructions in reasonable English. You can register it on-line for a lifetime warranty and the seller is efficient and keen to give satisfaction.

Vastly overpriced.

Worked brilliantly. It was £100 more than what they usually sell for but my wife had Covid 19 so we needed it. Well done on gouging the vulnerable and sick.

Get peace of mind

It's important to keep an eye on blood oxygen levels during the spread of covid19 and this gadget gives a clear reading of the percentage oxygen together with the pulse value. The instruction sheet leaves a lot to be desired though and appears to have been compiled by a Product Liability Lawyer and fails to deal with the significance of the numbers shown, even to the extent that in certain orientations it reverts to values that aren't mentioned at all in the data sheet. It is well made and easy to use, but you may need to ask your GP or Pharmacist what some of the results mean.

Easy to use with a clear display

I didn't want to buy yet another chinese product but it seems British made ones are hard to find or are very expensive. I chose this one as it is easy to read and has a nice layout, which has 6 different display options. Two AAA Batteries (not included) are easy to install, it has a CE mark (Chinese Export ;-) and you can set an alarm for both the oxygen and pulse levels. The menus are a little fiddly at first but once you have set it you probably won't need to adjust it again. The default factory settings are ok to be honest. So day to day use is easy, just push the on button, insert finger and wait a few seconds until the readings stablise. Remove finger and it turns off automatically. The lanyard is useful to hang it up on a hook or something else.Apparently its available in different colours but I didnt see this option when buying and ended up with the grey.I dont know how accurate it is but the readings seem realistic 150-160 bpm after cycling, 80 walking around and 65-70 sitting down. Oxygen between 96-99 so I think I am healthy enough ;-)

Pulse Oximeter - hope never to be used.

After reading that a doctor bought one of these for his elderly mother in case she catches Covid I ordered this for my family. It clearly shows pulse rate and a blood oxygen percentage which in my healthy state was 99%. Holding my breath for a minute brought the figure down to 97%. I have no way of checking its accuracy but hopefully no one will ever need it. Remember to store it without batteries fitted - they invariably leak and cause irreperable damage.

Very helpful.

This pulse oximeter has been perfect for tracking my post Covid hospitalisation recovery.I was told it would be helpful if I could monitor my blood oxygen levels and BPM at home while I’m on the mend and this little gadget does it with ease! The instructions are a little hard to read ( I think it’s maybe been translated from another language?) but fortunately the device is super simple to use. It’s lovely and comfortable while on, plus you can easily change the display direction for an easier reading at the touch of a button.I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who may need it.
