Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X704 CD Receiver with Alexa

Ever since the ending of the Pioneer 80prs, this is the best 5v preout head unit that money can buy. I have a stack of 6 single din head units right now. The 4v Pioneer DEH-X8800BHS is junk in my opinion. I've had two of them fail within 10 to 15 hours of playtime while only charging at 15.3v. This Kenwood x704 has substantially better preouts and I've never had an issue. (I have two of them). The only downside is the volume max is 35 in comparison to Pioneers 62 or whatever it is. So getting ever drop out of your amp before clipping is slightly harder. But I wouldn't mess with today's Pioneer unless it's a used 80prs.

This is a great head unit. The kdc-x704 has good sound and bluetooth is pretty good. If you buy a kenwood go with the exclon series 2 year warranty and better parts and sound because of the 5 amp pre out puts. Compare to original kenwood with 2 amp pre out puts. If you want no cd player go with kenwood kmm x704. All round this a great head unit worth the money

I bought to replace another Kenwood excelon deck that was about 13 years old. There was nothing wrong with the old one. I wanted something with a little new technology. This has Alexa. I use it in my house so I figured it would be nice in car to help with voice commands. I have iPhone and Siri is good to. I haven't used Alexa very much but it cool to have. I use to play music through the thumb drive and the BT sometimes. Its easy to use and all the setting are easy to get to.

Works correctly most of the time. If going between several channels quickly audio will simply stop and you get no sound output at all until you turn the head unit off and on again. HD radio reception is also pretty bad in fringe areas. Radio keeps switching between HD and standard FM and the transition isn't smooth at all. If you live in the city this is a non-issue, but there should be some smarter logic in how the audio is blended.

The HU was installed in a 2008 Ford Fusion. The factory head unit was broken and would only play AM/FM. The 6 preamp outputs, 13 band EQ, and basic time alignment where the important features I wanted. Everything sounds great, I can't wait to until I try hi-res music.

Bought this to modernize my vehicle's stereo system. Every feature one needs today, and near audiophile quality sound from average factory component speakers, using the equalizer appropriately. Alexa and streaming with virtually no distortion. Excelon line performs well beyond the standard Kenwood/Pioneer/Sony/JVC/etc. products.

Bluetooth connectivity is great, the sound quality is really good, and the remote control buttons are alright I do wish they were bigger though. I put this radio in my 1986 Dodge ram charger 150 royal Se and i had no problems installing it with the kit I also bought. Overall really good radio I recommend it to anyone.

I ONLY listen to talk radio and on rare occasion either a podcast streamed from my iPhone or even more rarely a CD. Approximately 4 months ago (about 18 months of use) the radio started going to max volume while driving even though I did not touch the volume knob. A week ago, on a Friday when I turned off my work truck for the weekend, the two 1000CCA batteries were dead because the radio decided to turn on. One week later (this morning) the radio would not turn on at all. I have 12vac going to the radio, the radio protection fuse ohms out perfectly; however, the radio will not power up. What a waste of money. I have been buying Kenwood radios for my 30+ automobiles since the Gulf War and never had a problem with any of them. This one lasted only slightly longer than my first marriage on my first enlistment before it left a brown stain on the mattress.
