I'm free from incessant barking!!
I've had dogs since I was in diapers and have had several of my "own" dogs in adulthood and was fortunate enough to never have a yapper. This good fortune abruptly ended with my latest adoptee, Zoe. She barks not only at people, cars, bicycles, other dogs, but at dew drops rolling from the leaves, a snow flake zig zagging to the ground, the fly buzzing by the window...you get the picture. With the warmer weather approaching, I was really fearing having my windows wide open (and all the new sounds to entice her) and I also feared taking her on hiking trips or any other adventure which requires a semi well-behaved dog. Before resorting to the collar, I hired a dog trainer and read every book imaginable to curb the barking all with mediocre results. I finally decided it was time for the shock collar. As I was searching for that product I stumbled upon this one and I'm so happy I did. I kid you not that the product payed for itself the very first day when Zoe stopped barking after being squirted four times. Four times and I had something I almost forgot about: silence. Peaceful, beautiful silence. The collar itself is a bit weighty and I don't know how well it would do on very small breeds (like under 10lbs), and the collar itself is very simple- no bells and whistles. The first time I put on the collar and Zoe barked, she was immediately surprised by the Citronella- it's a quick and swift squirt like out of a spray bottle. She looked confused, but carried on with her business. She then went to her favorite window to bark and got squirted again. She went charging into the backyard, squirted again. Only took one more squirt later in the evening and she no longer barked. It was so quiet- and she so quiet- that I almost felt like something was wrong. But it wasn't! The squirt not only caused her to stop barking, but she also seems calmer. Every time she barks I still give her the command of "quiet" or "no barking" in tandem with the collar so she can be sure of which action is not acceptable. It works so well that I keep the collar on "off" most of the time and only turn it "on" when letting her into the yard. ONLY downside to collar is it will go off if another dog barks near it. But the on/off switch makes it easy to monitor. I've even taken the collar off and she still doesn't bark. It's truly a miracle. It's worked so well that I bought a second one for my most recent adoptee who never barked until he met Zoe. Works wonders on him too. Great for dogs who bark on walks, in the house or in the yard. It's not a collar you can just leave on because when my dogs play the device tends to come loose and just hang there. Other than that, highly recommend this product before resorting to shocking your pet!

Lasted a week...
Overall, this product did not work for my pet. My 9 mo old pomeranian barks at everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. Sometimes he barks at nothing at all. He was slightly bothered by the spray and I did notice a small difference in the amount of barking. Anytime he saw anyone or any animal though he would ignore the spray altogether and keep barking. I kept it though because for small triggers it started to help when his anxiety medication was assisting in keeping him a bit calmer. After a week, I went to fill up the device but when I inserted the nozzle on the spray can into the device, the device started spraying non-stop for about 15 seconds. I tried again but it kept spraying before I could even fully push the nozzle into the device. The manual says when the device is full it'll spray for around 7 seconds or so, but it wasn't spraying when my dog was wearing it as if it was empty. I had it sat down flat and not at an angle as instructed. I took out the batteries and replaced them, but nothing worked. My dog never tried to damage it in any way, he just occasionally scratched and body shook so him breaking it is highly unlikely.I could accept if it just wasn't effective for my dog, as I know results will vary based on the pet. I'm disappointed that it already stopped working though. In addition, before breaking I did run into problems with the device inconsistently spraying. Sometimes it would spray when he wasn't barking. It wouldn't spray every time he barked. Sometimes it wouldn't spray when he let out a loud bark but then would spray when he let out a small whine. Long term, I definitely would have eventually replaced this with a new collar because it would never be useful for consistent training for my dog. I just wanted to see if a spray collar would work first, so I purchase this one to try since it was a decent price and I didn't want to waste my money. Looks like that's what I ended up doing anyways though.

I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for an annoying design flaw
This device is great and the price is fantastic. I had the more expensive brand PetSafe and similar style collar but I lost it and I didn't want to buy their newly designed citronella collar that uses disposable refill cartridges at $5 each; that adds up quickly. It's too bad PetSafe abandoned this design that allows you to get a spray can to refill the collar when necessary and it lasts a long time. So I'm really glad I found this collar, the price, build, and quality is quite great (it's very similar to the previously owned PetSafe collar that has now been discontinued in favor of the replaceable-spray-cartridge collar). The only reason I'm not giving this collar 5 stars is the fact that it sprays 1 time every time you flip the power switch on. I guess this is supposed to be a test spray to confirm that the collar is "on" and working, but it's such a waste of citronella spray considering a fully charged unit has about 15 sprays before it needs a refill. The whole point of the on/off switch is to help you save the battery life, but it will do the opposite when it comes to helping you save the citronella spray. So, by design, you either waste the battery life or you waste the spray in the chamber; you can't extend the life of both; just one or the other.Fortunately, my dog has learned to not bark once the bark collar is placed around its neck, and I don't have to turn it on most of the time. But once in a while my dog will go for it and try to bark, so if I want to make sure it doesn't bark in the middle of the night and wake everybody up, I have to turn it on and waste that one spray. It's a really silly and frustrating design flaw considering how easy it is to test it and confirm that it's working by just blowing into it.If the manufacturer ever upgrades and corrects the design, I'd like to also suggest that they make the label for "on" and "off" easier to read; the font it's very very small and white on light yellow which is hard to read, I had to use a black marker to make it clear. Just silly design flaws.
