It does what it was designed to do.
To give an accurate review of this product, you need to understand how it works and how permanent hair color works. When you dye your hair, the dye lifts some of your natural hair color and deposits the dye into the hair shaft. The longer you've been coloring your hair; the more saturated your ends are going to be with the dye. The color remover shrinks the molecules of the dye and helps wash it out, leaving whatever is left. This is why, when you wash out your hair with this stuff, the ends tend to be darker and it leaves a really brassy tone instead of leaving your natural color. It's unlikely you'll immediately go back to your natural hair color when you use this stuff because of the way permanent color works. The dye molecules will also enlarge as time wears on if you don't wash them all out, which is why your hair may redarken after using it. Make sure you wash your hair out really, really, well with as hot of water as you can stand to get the best results possible. It also helps to use a plastic hair cap or plastic wrap over your hair. It will NOT lift your natural hair color from your undyed roots. It does stink, that is because of the chemicals in it, and also why it say to use in WELL VENTILATED spaces. Make sure you have a fan going or a window open when you use this stuff, but try to keep the room warm. You can use a hair dryer on a warm setting as well, to kind of speed up the process. For what it's for, this stuff does actually work if you follow the directions to the T and follow suggestions from your hairdresser friends, but be prepared to redye your hair after using the product to get closer to your natural color or whatever color you're going for. Please note, the lighting in my bathroom is weird so my after photo looks darker than it actually is.Happy hair adventures everyone!

Buy baking soda too!
This is the only way to get hair dye out of your hair without bleach! I have long hair, so I need 2 boxes. Very important...this stuff stinks like rotten eggs. So, after you use Oops Color Remover, buy a box of baking soda for 50 cents, mix it with water to make a paste and rub it all over your head, cover, and let it sit for at least an hour, then shampoo & condition again. I promise you, this is the only way to get rid of the smell so you're not embarrassed for the next week because you stink.

This is the cure for cancer.. I'm sure of it.
If I could give this more starts I would! I spent 3 hours reading reviews about this and I decided to take the leap. And I AM SO HAPPY I DID!I had an awful at home RED color job. Like bad bad. Like crying bad. But I didn't want to bleach it because I want my hair to be super healthy. The smell is bad, not as bad as everybody acts. But bad.It took me the whole bottle, I almost ran out. I have medium length thick, thick hair. When you apply it make sure it is saturated. That's where the best results come from. I let mine sit longer than the recommended 20 minutes. I did more like 45. Oops.ANYWAY. The water needs to be hot as hell. I rinsed for the 20 minutes and shampooed roughly 5 times. I used a deep deep conditioner afterward. RINSING IS KEY. I towel dried my hair and then blow dried a little bit. And BAM. Angels made love on this hair of mine. It's basically my natraul color. So thank you thank you thank you for this product.

Simply amazing stuff.
After reading reviews for a few days, I decided to go for it. I'm a natural redhead but I've been dying my hair different shades of reds for over 10 years. I never thought I would end up with beautiful strawberry blonde after using the product but I am in love. I followed the directions closely, but I did shampoo and shower for 30 minutes afterwards. The smell did not bother me, but it is strong for sure. I used an argan oil conditioner afterwards. It's been a few days, hair feels healthy and happy. People are complimenting me everywhere I go. My natural red hair color is a shade darker than what I am left with, but overall I am so very happy. And still shocked that it worked so well.

Back to my natural color!
I wanted to write a review just so no one makes the same mistake I did. I was desperate and trying to find ways to remove the hair dye from my hair, and knew I did not ever want to bleach it again. I have been dying my hair red for years now. Every shade of red. Box dye, salon, temporary, permanent, every kind of dye. I wanted to go lighter since summer is around the corner and I'm just bored with red, and every time my roots grow out it looks horrible. My natural color is so light that when my roots grow out, I look bald on top. Lol. I'm just tired of recoloring it every few months when my roots grow out and the color fades. I read a ton of reviews on Color Oops, watched videos (more specifically the ones with red hair), went to their website, and wanted to give this a try before bleaching it or just dying it again. I went to Walmart to get it and they were out of stock, next to where it would have been was L'oreal hair color remover. I didn't read any reviews on it, but figured it just HAD to be the same. I also grabbed an ash blonde for afterwards. Well, I put the L'oreal remover in, let it sit for 50 minutes (Max. was 60), and then followed the rest of the directions. After I towel dried it, my hair had random patches of orange and blonde, the rest of my hair was exactly the same. It looked awful. I ended up dying it back just because it looked so bad. I had to find a way to put my hair up to where it wasn't noticeable since I had to go somewhere the next day. I did this on Saturday night. So last night (Sunday night), I checked walmarts stock online and drove to a Walmart farther away just to get this Color Oops. I have long thick hair, and I knew that after reading the reviews, I needed two boxes. I had my sister in law help me. She applied one box to one side of my head, and at the same time, I applied the other box to the other side of my head. I put the cap on and left it for 30 minutes, I didn't see a difference while it was in and already started getting bummed. After I finished the rinsing process (which takes forever), I was beyond impressed. This stuff worked exactly like it said it would! It took all of the red out and put me back at my natural color. I haven't even dyed it blonde yet, and might not. Everyone complained about the smell in the reviews, and fortunately I can't smell for some unknown reason, but my husband and sister in law said it smelled like rotten eggs. I do recommend using a deep conditioning treatment while you're still in the shower, when it says to apply conditioner. I used an Argan oil deep conditioning packet, instead of conditioner at the end. It made my hair so smooth and soft. I could feel it get very dry during the rinsing process, so I'm glad I used the conditioning treatment. Be sure to read every single instruction, and don't make the same mistake I did. I'm super impatient, but don't buy L'oreal! So glad I found color oops.

Colour Oops is absolutely BRILLIANT..!!!!
I wanted to cover my grey hair and bought a dye that said light brown. To my horror it was actually jet black. It was a dead colour black and completely unflattering on me, but more to the point not the desired look. I desperately needed it removed ASAP. I googled hair dye removers and Colour Oops had great reviews, so thought what have I got to lose. It's very easy to use and the instructions are very clearly written. There's no peroxide so not as harsh on the hair. As stated I applied the Oops to my hair leaving it for 20 mins maximum, then thoroughly washed my hair with shampoo a few times rinsing out as required in the instructions for 20 mins, then gave my hair a deep conditioner and got on with my day rinsing out before bed. Very happy with the results. Attached before and after pictures.

Disappointing - Please make sure you read the instructions thoroughly!
I bought this product after hearing great things about it. But due to my own mistakes it barely touched the black dye on my hair. Please be sure that if you do conduct a strand test, you only mix a very small amount of the color removal solution. I made the mistake of mixing the whole lot up and then left it sitting in the bottle for an hour, rendering the solution very ineffective when it came to applying it to my whole head. When I later read through the application process to see where I had gone wrong though it does clearly state that you must apply the solution fairly quickly for it to do it's job.

By far the best hair dye remover I have ever used
By far the best hair dye remover I have ever used. No damage to my hair whatsoever and it removed over 10yrs of black and red build up! Brilliant!!

Brilliant, but it doesn't work miracles
I dyed my hair the brightest green you could possibly imagine. Obviously I washed it a few times with anti dandruff shampoo first to fade it out. I then used Color Oops which seemed to fade it a lot more, more than I expected... obviously it's no miracle and didn't remove the most notoriously stubborn colour, but it definitely gave it a big budge in the right direction in to fading it out!

Lightens hair but damages condition significantly
Liked that the dark colour was gone as I felt dowdy and washed out, liked that I was left with a warm reddy glow. However, this is not my original hair colour. Really like the colour actually, but after a week I have a strip of hair root that will only get bigger. My hairdresser was very concerned that my hair is now extremely porous and as a result is wary to recolour roots without a strand test and would only suggest a recolour semi permanent on for 5 mins max. I wish I'd never coloured my natural hair at all now, will take a lot of cutting and treatments to restore my condition. At nearly 50yrs old I'd never coloured my hair and this oops product has caused a lot of damage. Go to a professional!

Didn't really work for my hair.. but..
Dyed my hair the wrong shade of blonde and it became orange. Read about colour oops and wasn't sure it would work for the dye I used but gave it a go anyway. Did exactly how it said and it did pull the orange out of my hair but was still yellowish and definitely not back to how it was before I dyed it which was disappointing.

It worked on a black henna dye
It does work !!!I dyed my hair with black henna dye and the result was horrible. Big mistake to put it simply. I tried all the natural ways to remove it, nothing has worked. Until I tried colour oops. Easy to apply, had it on for 25 minutes and after rinsing for another 20 minutes the black dye was gone. I couldn't be happier.I definitely recommend it.Worth the money spent.

Excellent hair colour removal, kind to hair
Excellent removal of tint which was far too dark for me. No damage to my hair, easy to apply. Smells nice . Much better than the colour removal products you usually see on the chemists shelves.

Man it stinks, but it works
I had my hair professional dyed black a few months ago but wanted to go back to my natural colour. Though it's made my entire hour smell like rotten eggs, it's taken the black out. I'm going to have to redo because I missed a few bits, but the black is definitely gone. Miracle product.

Did what it was suppose to do
This product was purchased for a relative. It arrived exactly when promised. She informed me that it has exceeded her expectations, she was afraid it would burn or damage her hair and it did not. Our suggestion is to use it with a treatment conditioning product as well.
