AC itself works great. Really easy to install.
AC is easy to install. This was a new install into a converted bus so roof needed to be cut. You do not need the gasket kit that amazon says you will need. It is already installed on AC unit and ready to go. You also DO NOT need the remote control unit the the manufacture says you will (its optional) need BUT YOU DO need the main control unit (Dometic Air Conditioners 3314851.000 Adb Man Control PLR Wht F/All) for the inside as this is JUST the AC unit that you will see outside. Well insulated is the key! I installed this with the insulation incomplete. In the full sun, it cooled the bus but not very well. Full sun after insulation, it gets very cold. The fan speeds are high, med and low. For both air and AC. Low blows pretty hard and high is super HIGH! The unit from the outside (and inside) is quite. I can barely hear it from outside the bus. Overall... unit is great.SHIPPING... not so great. The box itself didnt have dents or tears but the base of the unit was dented in in several places. UPS driver said it was 150 LBS but its more like 80 LBS like amazon and the manufacture says

Great air conditioner....easy to install.
I ordered this as a new install for my 2000 drop in camper since it did not have one . Took out the vent and drop this one in with a helper and connected the ac wire . The instructions and 4 mounting bolts were in the lower unit that i ordered separately. Pluged in the lower unit , screwed it into the ceiling and ....done. works great. Took me about 3 hours start to finish and that includes scraping off the old puddy from the vent. The instructions ( which are in the lower unit ,not the air conditioner part) were very clear on how to install both units. The fan is a little noisey, wish it had a quiet low speed but noise is acceptable for the price. Very nice unit.

Works great!!!
We never had an air conditioner, living and camping in northern NH we did fine fine with just the ceiling fans. Well this year with all the heat we were getting I decided to get a roof top unit. Easy to install, all long as you have the power pre wired, we did. Light weight I was able to lift the unit to the roof top using some straps and the help of my wife. Took about and hour to install. We turned it on, OH what a relief!!! The dog just sits under it and cools off. I find it a little loud be then we never had one. All of our neighbors have new campers with ducked air which is much quieter. I've acclimated to the noise, better than being in the heat and humidity!!! So far we are happy with it!!!

Full Install from Scratch in My Video -- Pretty Nice Unit
The media could not be loaded. If you want to see how I installed this unit in my converted bus, which is becoming an RV, check out my video. Overall, I found the installation pretty straightforward and was able to complete it in half a day. Note that if you're just buying this to replace an existing AC unit, the install should be easier as you'll just be pulling the old unit, attaching the wires, and putting the new unit in place. The only downside I have with this unit has to do with the control unit, which is sold separately. First of all, I find that control unit plasticky and fragile. Also, I was bummed out to learn that the control unit did not come with this AC unit, as it has NO CONTROLS! It's overpriced in my opinion given the fact that this unit has no controls in and of itself.Overall a great rooftop AC unit. As for cooling power, I have a large bus/RV that is 40 feet long. In most larger RVs, I've seen people run two or even three of these units. So it doesn't have the ultimate cooling power or anything like that. But it does blow cold and has not blown my circuits, so I'm happy with it.One final note: this baby runs on AC 110, so the power you get when you plug into a standard outlet. It's not a low-power 12v unit or anything like that.

Quiet meat locker cold air!
Dometic has been in the RV appliance game for many years. They make quality products that typically last. The unit I purchased was a slam dunk installation. The package was shipped via FedEx and arrived fairly quickly. Package condition was a bit questionable upon first sight however, the unit was mint. I think FedEx is hiring former airline baggage handlers these days...Unit performance is amazing. In a 26' Skyline, the unit is set on low cool in 96° sunny weather, doing a great job of keeping my cat and I cool and comfy! Temp control is set 1/4th of the scale and very nice in my trailer!

Garbage with worthless warranty
I purchased this in March, 2021 and within 6 months the unit stopped cooling. I found the issue to be a failed sealed system, no Freon remained in the system and when I power down the suction side releases air during equalization back flow through the compressor from the condenser. After reviewing the "2 year warranty" I contacted Dometic several times and eventually determined that I should take it to a "Certified Warranty Repair Center" near me. Upon arrival they didn't want to be involved as the unit was installed on a custom built camper but I eventually persuaded them to take the job. Three days later they called to tell me that I wired it wrong. After coaxing more detail out of them I determined that what they meant was that the unit was wired into a 20 amp outlet but requires a 30 amp one, regardless of the fact that the unit never pulls more than 19.1 amps on startup. However right they were about the misuse of the 20 amp outlet, I always used a 30 amp extension cord and feed. This is, however, irrelevant as the unit failure has zero to do with the electrical system and only to do with the failure of the sealed system which no longer retains its Freon. They disagreed and ordered me to pickup the trailer. While Dometic isn't directly responsible for the RV Repair company's desire to avoid involvement, it doesn't reflect well upon them to have such a horrifically complicated and ineffective warranty support methodology. In a nutshell, Dometic avoids warranty responsibility as much as possible with the use of 3rd party service providers and 6 months to sealed system failure is pathetic. I will now effect repairs myself, which I should have done from the beginning. My laziness carried the typical lesson of "if you can fix it yourself, you are always better off".
