MSM stands for Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane, which occurs naturally in humans, some plants, and some animals. The sulfonyl group is a sulfur containing compound, and the "experts" – sports trainers, homeopaths, integrative medicine doctors, etc., and no, this does NOT include that guy in the white coat that you occasionally see with an MD after his name – all agree that the body needs sulfur for joint re-modeling. In my case, the meniscus in my right knee bothers me unless I take MSM regularly. So, either it works for me, or I am experiencing the placebo effect.When my meniscus started to bother me in my late 50's, doctors recommended glucosamine chondroitin, but before I went down that path, I decided to do some research. By the way, doctors will object to everything one says based on the research until you point out that it is peer-reviewed research that you found on PubMed, then they will tuck their tails between their legs, and shut up. The research showed me that glucosamine did prove to be helpful in the early studies that were done with glucosamine SULFATE – um, that would contain sulfur! Later studies done with glucosamine HCl (hydrochloride) did NOT show the same effectiveness. Unfortunately, most of the glucosamine sold today is the HCl formulation, probably because it is cheaper to make. So if you want to pursue glucosamine, make sure that it is the sulfate formulation. Regarding chondroitin, it costs 10 times more to make that glucosamine, and has never been shown to be effective. Consequently, when one purchases glucosamine chondroitin, one is largely paying for a substance that is ineffective. Full disclaimer – I did this research probably a decade ago, so more recent research may be shedding a different light. Check for yourself at PubMed, which is administered by the National Institutes of Health.In short, I recommend this product not only because it works for me, but also because the 1,500mg dosage is one of the highest dosages one can obtain in one tablet. Also, Doctor’s Best is a reputable brand.

I like the quality

My go to brand for MSM. I buy it mostly for my skin and hair. Maybe it's placebo, but I feel like it works. I'm 41 and I can always tell a difference in the texture of my skin when I stop taking it for awhile. I still get breakouts but I'm also seeing signs of aging. I think it helps for both. My haur stylist always comments on how healthy my hair is. I don't use any fancy hair products so I don't know if it is stronger because of these vitamins, but I told her I take MSM. The pills are pretty big, but I don't have any problems taking larger pills. I have never noticed any taste to them either. I say give it a try and see how it works for you!

A great quality MSM w/zero after taste & priced very well but the pills are HUGE! I usually don’t have a problem swallowing most capsules but these are so big! These would be FAR BETTER if they were SMALLER! I’d happily take 2 smaller capsule size tablets than this 1 huge 1. Better yet these would be even better as a powder filled capsule opposed to the hard tablet form they are in now. But as far as quality, effacy & what you get for your $$$ these are real good. I just hope this brand reads their reviews & takes suggestions to heart. The 1* removal is for the huge size of these making them tough to swallow.

Great product. Really got my nails and hair growing!

These are standard-size capsules, easy enough to swallow if you don't have any problems with taking pills. They made me extra gassy for the first couple of days, but I got used to it quickly. Now I'm just normally gassy. Would be nice if each capsule was more potent, but I guess that comes with the vegan territory...

Hard pill to swallow.

I started taking MSM supplements to address joint discomfort and have been pleasantly surprised by the results. Within a few weeks, I noticed a significant reduction in pain and increased mobility. Additionally, my skin appears clearer, and I feel more energetic throughout the day. I appreciate that the capsules are easy to swallow and fit seamlessly into my daily routine. Overall, MSM has positively impacted my well-being, and I plan to continue its use.
