Finally I can use a hardware sequencer with the Yamaha P-105

For months I've been trying to figure out how to connect a Roland hardware sequencer/MIDI-controller to the Yamaha P-105 so that I can get it playing along with the rest of my MIDI instruments. Finally I found the right combinations of search keywords that brought me to this thing. Expensive but it works perfectly!I was able to connect a Roland System-8 to this box using the MIDI DIN connector. and then used the USB connection from the box to the Yamaha P-105. Then from there the notes played on the Roland are played via the Yamaha P-105. Very easy to use

Works but Yamaha YDS may have some issues

My original review was awful , so I am rewriting it .I have the Yamaha YDS 150 . It uses USB . Not 5 pin MIDI .( real MIDI is 5 pin din) I got it to work with the Kenton connected to my Yamaha piano but it only plays the piano sound when my horn is MIDI d to my piano . So that is a YDS issue .I previously called the MIDI store and emailed . Person there was most helpful.I am giving it 4 stars because IMHO for this price a micro USB should be included . Now, I have the EWI 4000s . It uses MIDI connectors NOT USB . I can MIDI to both of my keyboards and it works great . BUT the YDS really shines with its looks and sounds . So yes both horns are great . Don't be disparaiged about the YDS 150 . It is a great horn . Just the MIDI business is problematic .

.

Works exactly as advertised. However a bit expensive for what it does and I wouldn’t mind a second midi out port. Happy I bought it and would buy it again. I use it to trigger hardware synths with the Fishman Tripleplay.

You can supposedly connect a powered usb hub to this thing!

I love this thing. No noticeable latency. In the instructions they mention that you can hook up a usb hub (ideally powered) to this box and send midi from multible usb devices. I’ve never seen this feature mentioned or utilized, but i’m for gonna try it out soon. Hopefully i’ll remember to update my review when i do.

Great solution for my problem with Yamaha P105

This product allows me to connect my Yamaha P105 keyboard, which only has a USB “to host” MIDI output, to an external device that receives MIDI information. Normally (apparently) you can only connect the Yamaha P105 or similar Yamaha keyboards to a computer, not to other MIDI devices. In this case I am sending MIDI data to a TC Helicon Voicelive 3 so that I can drive the harmony functions, and it works great. I tried first to just use adapters that would connect the USB output to standard midi cables and that did not work. There is a conversion that has to take place and this box does that.

Works with my Yamaha P-45 (P45) Digital Piano!

I tried 3 different midi usb host boxes with my Yamaha P-45 digital piano and this was the only one that worked! Super happy with the product and so happy I finally found a solution to adding midi to this keyboard! I was very close to giving up. Also FYI the midiplus usb midi host is NOT compatible with the Yamaha p45, it freezes after 30 seconds every time.

Works great! Plug and play

I used this Kenton USB to MIDI host to connect my Yamaha p115 piano to drive a Korg Minilogue XD. Worked perfectly the first time and continues to work great. One thing : I wish it had a power switch on it. I end up having to unplug it from power.

Works great!

It's so wonderful be able to use my favorite piano keyboard action (Roland) to control my favorite piano keyboard sound engines (Korg). This device makes it possible! If it takes you a moment to figure out how to assemble the electrical plug compatible with your region's electrical outlets, fear not, you'll figure it out.
