Been looking for something better than the slippery, had to manage ploppy plastic bags of gel that loose shape & bulge up when frozen. Glad I found the U-tek 414 Phase Change cooler bag system.These things are great! They last longer than regular gel packs... their tough covering is not as slippery & easier to handle when frozen. These TheomSafe Utek bags also lay flatter & are still flat after freezing. Nice. Everything is more predictable with these packs. Plus they're non-toxic & made for cooling foods, medicines, even flowers or other perishables.All cooling gel is not created equal. This Phase Change gel is thicker & keeps its shape much better when warm & doesn't become a ploppy bag like other plastic gel packs. This gel is different somehow... thicker & keeps its shape much better. Makes it easier to handle, pack, unpack & freeze.This is a High Quality Product. The heavy duty anti-puncture foil covering transfers cooling more efficiently & in a more stable way. I have the -1C /+30F product as I didn't want something that would freeze everything,...just general cooling to keep things cold for a long time. Works great!Love the convenient size of the packs. Frozen they measure 5 1/4x7 1/2, and 1 1/4 at the thickest (a gentle dome in the middle) tapering to 1 inch at the sides. Comes in a case of 12 so I can add whatever cooling power I need for my diff size coolers. Nice. I tried a competing high tec gel pack that cost 30$ just for one...about the size of a large thin book. It was OK but it was only ONE. For a few dollars more I get twelve packs, more cooling power & convenience plus a better value.BOTTOM LINE: Great high-tech cooling engineering. A step-up from plastic gel bags. I had purchased one of the previous versions of these gel packs about 10-12 years ago. At that time the Gel pack stayed moldable after it froze. This one does not stay moldable. It freezes into a hard rock. It does stay frozen for a long time. I had used these gel packs in the past to ice my back.

These ice packs are amazing compared to your standards you get with a cooler. I use them for my lunch box and am able to keep my lunch at my desk all day and the pack will still be largely frozen by the end of my work day. I’ve used them in a cooler going hiking on a hot day and they work great. The box comes with a lot of ice packs and I just freeze a few and store the rest. The last box lasted me over 3 years but I did give quite a few away.

Ok, ice packs are not that exciting. But these really do keep things cold.I've used cheaper brands and they stay cold for several hours. Those plastic ice blocks aren't worth the price as they keep things cool (not even cold) or an hour or two. These ice pack gels stayed cold for well over 10 hours. Not sure how long they really would have lasted because we were home from the beach before they thawed.One word of caution... they are heavy. But that is a small price to pay to ensure your food/drink actually stays cold

They work great! They keep everything in my cooler cold all day long. After 12+ hours in the cooler they will still be partially frozen. Highly recommended.

Does what it was advertised to do. Kept wife's lunch cold all day.
