Great Very Sensitive
This metal detector is, clearly, not nearly as sensitive as more expensive types. In testing, I found it quite capable of finding painted and spackled nail heads in drywall, thus identifying the presence of studs; and 1.5" long brads, used to fasten furniture together. It was not capable of detecting the sharp metal point of a plastic pushpin, used to hold a piece of paper to the wall. The wand has a hidden sensitivity adjustment. Under the label, there is a circular hole; you can locate it by running your finger across the surface of the label, and looking for a small circular indentation. If you insert a slotted jewelers screwdriver (the type used to tighten the screws on a pair of glasses) through the label and into the hole, you will find a small adjustment screw. I turned mine out by about 20 turns, and this significantly increased the sensitivity of the unit. It didn't seem to impact on the selectivity of the unit; I didn't encounter any false signals, but it doubled the range at which metal was detected. I didn't test for increased current draw; it may be that the unit will burn through 9 volt cells more quickly.Generally speaking, this unit would be entirely suitable for finding small metallic objects within an inch or two of the wand surface, as would typically be the case when the wand is used in security applications. I don't think it would be particularly useful in searching for buried coins; if you wish to do that, you should probably consider the purchase of a metal detector in the $200 or more range. But I do think it would be entirely adequate for finding screws and nails embedded in wood. This is a very inexpensive metal detector, and it should not be expected to perform as well as other, more expensive detectors. But it does do a wide range of tasks reasonably well, and for the tasks for which it is intended, it works as advertised. I recommend it.

Works for woodworking
I had to replace the first one, but the second one works perfectly. Using it to scan for metal for my jointer and other workshop tools.

Garrett is better.
I bought both and decided based on results... the Garrett is the better detector.

Two sensitivity settings, works fast
I wasn't sure what to expect with this handheld metal detector. I figured it would be very cheap quality or take forever to scan someone but that's not the case at all. The rubberized handle feels nice and even the battery compartment slides on nice and tight and it has a nice feel overall. The option to use an audible tone or vibration is nice for loud environments where you wouldn't be able to hear it, and the red and green LEDs also help as well. The dual sensitivity is nice to save power, it defaults to the low power mode but you can push a momentary switch while you scan to change to high power mode. That switch is near the power switch so you have to be careful not to turn it off when using it, but it's not a big deal. The wand works in either hand and the battery seems to last a while, at least a couple days if you are using this for an all day event. The included holster is vinyl and attaches to your belt with the snap closure at the top keeping it in place when you aren't using it. The metal detection works very fast, it beeps as soon as it approaches a metal item. It's quite sensitive so even a small metal belt buckle will set it off. A small pocket knife definitely sets it off. It doesn't detect a vaping device like a Juul in someone's pants but a larger box mod with one or two 18650 batteries does get detected if you are running an event that doesn't allow e-cigarettes. I'm pretty happy with how sensitive it is even on the low setting. You definitely aren't sneaking a gun or a knife past this thing unless it's somehow hidden under your foot or something.I also tested this device to try and find nails in my wall at home and it does work for that. It detects nails as well as any metal corner pieces or conduit in the walls easily. I'm not sure how precise it is but you can determine the general area. I'd suggest using a stud finder if you are trying to hang pictures and want to get a clearer picture of where the stud is.Overall, I'm very happy with this metal detector. For a low cost wand it works as a visual deterrent since people are less likely to try and sneak things in if they know they are being wanded, but it also does detect metal so it does work to catch most contraband. Quality is better than expected and it should last years if you only use it occasionally for special events, and even if you used it daily I don't see what would break since there aren't any moving parts that can wear out and it doesn't seem to get hot at all.

Not Much Sensitivity
This is OK for wall studs and such, but it is not very sensitive outside. When I tested it In the grass, it could not detect metal close by. However, the seller was excellent in giving me credit for the return.
