We Are Together

With each page turn, more children appear on the page, culminating in a spread with children standing in a circling around a tree. Showing children from all backgrounds as an everlasting circle, emulating the shape of the Earth, highlights this message of togetherness. The stunning landscapes showcase the beauty of the natural world and work as a covert reminder that our social responsibility includes protecting that also.

Like all Britta Teckentrup books, we were delighted by the stunning artwork and clever cut out effect. This story is based on the power of friendship and working together to make life better. With each turn of the page, more friends appear until, by the end of the book, the entire double page is filled with children from all around the world. My daughter really enjoyed the concept of more children appearing on each page and counted them all until she decided that there were far too many to count on the last pages! Another really lovely Teckentrup picture book!

This beautiful book really has it all. You can feel the quality as soon as you pick it up, the quality of the paper and binding really do justice to the wonderful pictures and words inside. My Book Club listened intently to my reading, which inspire a great discussion about the meaning of togetherness, then spent ages poring over the pictures: Which child looked most like them? How many children are on the last page? Which page would they most like to visit?A wonderfully calming, hopeful book - a joy!
